Oh yeah this is MUCH more of a Harley Quinn film than a Birds of Prey one. In the comics Harley has zero involvement with the Birds of Prey who are often made up of Batgirl, Black Canary, and Huntress. Also Cassandra Cain as well the fourth Batgirl who we actually see in this film played by Ella Jay Basco. Batgirl naturally doesn't show up as the DCEU Batman kind of just stopped having sidekicks after the death of Dick Grayson, only Robin to exist in this universe. On the topic of sidekicks of Batman, The original Huntress of Earth-2 introduced in All-Star Comics #69 (1977) was actually the daughter of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle aka Catwoman. Both the Bat and the Cat got married and had Helena Wayne who later took up the title of Huntress after growing up. Bruce retired as Batman so Robin and Huntress were the two man hero's. Should mention that Earth-2 was the original continuity of DC, pretty much the Earth of the original comics of the 1930s going into the 1950s. Then DC Introduced Barry Allen as The Flash and Hal Jordon as Green Lantern and said they were from a parallel Earth dubbing it Earth-1. DC then moved it's focus to Earth-1 introducing new versions of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman etc. Earth-2 continued on and as this was no longer the main focus of DC this gave writers the ability to do whatever they want so alot of characters actually got endings something we rarely see in comic books as they just want to keep these characters going forever. Then in 1986 DC did a massive reboot with Crisis on Infinite Earth brining together all the Earths to fight an evil. Earths were destroyed across the multiverse and in the end a new continuity was born known as New Earth. This continuity brought together elements from Earth-1, Earth-2 Earth-X, Earth-3 etc. Pretty much streamlining everything into a single universe. This is by far the most well known and beloved universe where most of the comics people love take place from Killing Joke to Batman Year One, Superman: The Man of Steel, Death of Superman, Death in the Family etc. Here a new Huntress was introduced called Helena Bertinelli, not the daughter of The Bat & The Cat but visually looks very similar to her original counterpart from Earth-2. This is the version of the character we see in this film, I don't think Catwoman has ever been mentioned in the DCEU but could be wrong.

Honestly the Birds of Prey is miles better than the Barbie movie in my opinion. It's up there as one of my favourite DCEU films too. The acting, casting, costume design and the fight scene choreography are all on point. Plus they managed to juggle so many new characters, gave them all unique backstories that carry the theme of emancipation all without feeling too bloated. This, The Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker show are all top tier DCEU entries. It's such a shame we're not getting anymore of these characters, a sequel with characters like Catwoman or Poison Ivy would've gone so hard.

😂 Black Canary IS white. Just not in this movie. And Jurnee Smollett is fucking fabulous in the role.

yo Don Townsend i suggest you watch a show called the amazing world of gumball. trust me this show looks like its for for kids(and well for the most part it is) but the more the series progresses the more better it gets, but if you do ever end up reacting to it the ending will make you question the show ( your probably not even gonna see this)

I'm gonna be honest; I don't get the hype around this movie. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad movie, Ewan McGregor is awesomely terrifying as Black Mask, and there's *some* fun moments, but... it's really... just... a fine, an okay, movie. If you love this movie, awesome! But I don't fully understand the love and hate for this movie.
