The gore mixed with humor and 50s music are three essential elements of Fallout. If you were to tone down or alter any of them it would throw everything off.

I've been reading the comments about "gratuitous violence." I'm guessing none of you were in Afghanistan or Iraq. Humans without the veneer of civilization are violent. This show doesn't pull any punches depicting that, and good for them.

11:27 One way to become a ghoul is through radiation mutation. If you survive being irradiated for a time, you may become a ghoul. There are other ways as well. There are cases of ghouls never even showing signs of being feral no matter how long they live. There are ghouls that are so full of radiation that they start glowing and have not gone feral. but vast majority of ghouls do turn feral after a while, some taking longer than others.

The "vials" are unidentified and we do not know what is in them. Since we have never seen the ghouls use vials before in the Fallout universe, we don't even know if the vial actually work or if the vial sellers just tell the ghouls lies to sell it.

Yeah, when i first was watching I was confused that Coop's symptoms when he doesn't get the medicine don't look like he's turning feral. I thought it was a mistake but now I suspect that it's a hint that the vials aren't what he thinks they are. I suspect cough syrup and now he's dependent and his lungs fill up when he doesn't take it. Something like that. Good theory video on the subject "Is The Ghoul Being Scammed."

@rubenlopez3364 Yeah, it seems to work, but placebo drugs also seem to work when people taking them are told they work. I'm not saying they're not exactly what's advertised, I'm just saying that this new thing we've never heard of before could be a scam.

This show is the first time, that I know of, that there is a "medicine" ghouls need to "ingest/inhale" to keep from going feral. It is not mentioned in Fallout 4, which is the only game I've played. I am guessing that the "medicine" is a combination of different drugs including Radaway, RadX, and possibly fluid from the adrenal glands of either normal people or non-feral ghouls.

Yeah, he seemed to take all of the drugs he found, regardless of their type. None of the games mention it. Maybe we'll get an explanation in season 2.
