The actor playing Ethan is Tom Cruise's cousin. You can see it once you know.

I can see the similarity...except this guy is like 3 feet taller.

Odd thing about the ol' Scott and Steve confusion is, the actor credited as Steve was seen being buried as Scott.

I can't wait for the day when I can freely Google and KZfaq search all my questions about this show without fear of spoilers. The story behind the Steve/Scott confusion is definitely one I'm looking forward to diving into.

Hahaha the shape over Michael's head is a cool theory. Not saying it is, or it isn't but welcome to the beauty of lost. Me and my friends had thousands of these things whilst watching. Lost and Easter eggs go hand in hand, alot right and alot wrong but I found it funny anyway :)

Ethan DOES give whisperers' vibes! And I'm so happy these reactions are coming out more often. It's also very nice to see you theorize, so thank you and keep it up man!

Thanks! I'm glad someone agrees about the Whisperers thing. It's mostly the infiltration of the group that initially gave me that feeling.

If that's all you knew about LOST ahead of time, I think you're pretty safe, as far as spoilers go. I wouldn't worry about the shape/symbol, you'll get there before ya know it. I wouldn't dig into it any further right now though. RIP Steve, I mean, Scott.

Ya I feel like it's stuff that would seem like spoilers to people who are familiar with the show...but for me it's pretty much all just random stuff that I have no reference or context for.

@@OldBeardedGuyReacts Question, would you be interested in reacting to this old TV classic Perry Mason’s 1950s version

I'd be interested...but at my current pace I feel like I still have like 3 years of Lost to watch

You got a couple of predictions right and yeah it helps that locke is a strategist. I don't think Ethan would have talked even if sayid tortured him.
@OldBeardedGuyReacts
@OldBeardedGuyReacts 2 ай бұрын
Ya...in general, I realize that torture doesn't actually work. At a certain point, a person is going to just tell you whatever it is that they think will make you stop. Even a Navy Seal like Jocko Willink has said that he teaches his men that if tortured, they are of course going to have to give up SOME information. The goal would be to give up enough to keep you alive, but without any details that would jeopardize the missions goals. That's what I think you would've gotten from Ethan. Very vague answers. No details.

The changes you've recently made work really well, imo. And I'm loving the thumbnails too. Probably my least favourite episode of this season due to the cringey flashback, but I still really enjoyed your reaction!

It would have been impossible for me to not also do what Charlie did if I were in his position. Ethan left him hanging by his neck. Charlie was dead.
@OldBeardedGuyReacts
@OldBeardedGuyReacts 2 ай бұрын
It's hard for me to disagree with that. I think if I had been there to have a conversation with him ahead of time I would have said something like "I agree that he deserves to die. I'd like to give Sayid a chance to at least ATTEMPT to get some information out of him. The minute he says that's not working, I promise you can be the one to kill him". But....being in Charlie's position I'm not sure that any reasoning would've worked for either.
@dtny2la
@dtny2la 2 ай бұрын
@@OldBeardedGuyReacts A conversation upfront definitely could have helped. Charlie is a reasonable person, I'm sure he would have seen the wisdom in that, and I don't think he really intended to kill on sight. But then, in the heat of the moment. Adrenalin pumping. Gun laying right there. Easy for all that to go out the window.

Not everything you've read or seen on LOST are spoilers because you don't know where they fit in the story. And when they do, they won't be spoilers anymore because you'll be up to date with the story. If, for example, you had seen a photo of Locke in a wheelchair, you would have told yourself, before episode 4, that it was momentary in his past or in his future. It was when you saw episode 4 that you knew it was permanent before the miracle. Before this moment, it opens up multiple possibilities and after that it no longer matters whether you saw this photo. It's my opinion. RIP Scott...or Steve 😁 and Ethan.

All true. Also, I'm sure that the monster was far from the only thing that my wife and sister discussed about the show. It's just the only thing that ever stood out to me in the conversation because I didn't have any reference for any of the people they were talking about.

Remember what you said here about Ethan being a good tracker and of course he would know if five people were watching him ... hypothesis: what if he was so singular minded on getting Claire back that he just wasn't paying attention to his tracking skills, or just didn't care? My usual advice ... remember you said this here, there may be an answer to at least part of this question before the end. My opinion about this episode is it is both an extremely important episode and simultaneously a forgettable episode. Everything on-island is important going forward, Ethan is an important first piece of a larger puzzle. But Charlie's flashback here is the first one that feels like filler for the sake of the story structure. Every time I rewatch the series, I'm so focused on the Ethan story that I completely forget there's a Charlie story. But it's an otherwise great episode.

That was basically my theory of why Ethan ignored the possibility that he was walking into a trap.

According to Damon Lindelof this was the worst episode of the entire series. And I agree....so if you made it through this one it's smooth sailing from here...others will point to a few missteps in Season 2 and 3, but even those episodes are well written and well executed.....this episode is just a mess... Charlie's backstory is terrible... even Giacchino was uninspired...directorally its also a mess with our Losties forever running to catch up...terrible...

I can see that. I didn't HATE it, but the Charlie flashbacks were definitely the weakest of the season.
