The fact that there’s so many instances where our boi is like “you’ll get answers to that in season X” makes me think Mike has already done all of the analysis work here and has his notes, so the energy that goes into the videos is creating the visuals, writing the script, and editing (which, granted, appears to be A LOT). Also, as a former iv h addict, i was appalled at chariie throwing out all the statues just bc he's an addict. It's medicine. The numbers are present in some form throughout each episode, and in a hurley flashback he goes to visit the widow of a man who had also won a prize using the unlucky numbers, and had died by his own hand to escape the luck curse. The widow has a terrible Australian accent and says "you're talking about the numbers," something Mike will never let her forget.

I think this was one of the reasons why lost was kinda pivotal! With this characterization of Ana Lucia, Hurley & his struggle with his weight in an age of fat jokes being played for laughs in the office, and the humanization & emotional complexity of Sayid, who was straight up accused of being a terrorist early on - it was all kind of a hot take for its time
