In this episode we dig deeper into Locke's backstory. Also, through a dream that John has, we start to see some of the most supernatural events to take place so far.

This episode really breaks my heart... btw 1 of the coolest parts of the "numbers" is revealed when Hurley shows the piece of paper 4 8 15 16 23 42 (6 numbers written in sequence on 7 rows. If you turn each of those numbers into all integers under 42 in order...so 1 2 3 4 5 6 etc...you will notice that each number will appear in the exact position it should...with the exception of number 4....in order for the puzzle to work the first number needed to be 1....also the connect 4 has 42 slots

About what Boone heard on the radio, my hope is that nobody spoils anything and you get to experience it yourself the way we did. What I remember doing with my friends is that we would rewind the ep over and over and try to decipher the audio with raised volume but not much else could be done really

Ya I did something very similar while editing...it's pretty covered up by the plane sounds and Locke yelling at him to get out of there....all that's really clear is that they also said "815".

Exactly. People will try to say that it was supposed to be heard (and they are determined to spoil it for others, using that 'excuse'), but it really wasn't. To (mis)quote Boone, "if it was supposed to be heard, then why couldn't we hear it?" 😉

The reason i said to remove the subtitles was to try to decipher the radio signal like when it originally aired. It was a big debate what was said

Aaaaaahhhhh....OK that makes sense. But now I'm wanting to go back and rewatch it with the subtitles off. If you tell me that they eventually reveal what was actually said I will wait and not do that.

@@OldBeardedGuyReacts Well, first he gets hit by a car, then he has surgery (which could have gone wrong and caused paralysis) and then he drives while he's in a terrible state of distress just after the surgery. It's perfectly reasonable that everyone thinks each of these events are going to be the reason 😁

I'm going to do a "Season One Wrap Up" once the finale reaction gets posted. There are lots of "who are your favorite characters" comments, so one of the segments in that wrap up will be a tier list of all the main characters. I'll also include a short segment in there with all three of the cats.

In your last video you mentioned that a viewer told you not to have the CC on for this episode. Good decision not to because depending on how you are watching this - DVDs or streaming - some sources have the captions for the voice on the other end of Boone’s distress call incorrect. (An aside, not a lot of people know this, but closed captions are usually written by a third party, not the original production house or network but rather a freelancer that’s barely paying attention, so they can be wrong a lot, and in a mystery show like this, you don’t want that). Next episode is my favorite season one episode, can’t wait for you to see it.

I'm definitely glad they brought that up. I'd like, as much as possible, to experience the show the way everyone did originally. I've been told that I'll eventually get an explanation for what was said on the radio so I'm not going to look for the answer. I'll just let it be revealed whenever that happens

@@OldBeardedGuyReacts I think honestly the only thing I would ever tell a reactor to have the captions on for is the sixth episode of the Loki show, because there’s some Easter eggs there, otherwise, enjoy the experience as you said, organically as possible.

@@jeffcrass79 I originally was keeping them on because of Sun and Jin....not taking into account that the original version of the video would already have the translations for them on screen.

Yeah, the losties not sharing information sort of seems like a pattern huh. I've lost count of the number of times I've heard reactors say, if they would just talk to each other. lol.

In terms of storytelling, it's a great way to build up tension in the audience...because we're always wondering when one character or another is going to be let in on some secret.

"We are supposed to open the Hatch. We are supposed to find the plane." Boone is right. If they are supposed, why don't they do it. Locke does not understand anything. He says it himself. And yet, he trains a young man in his dangerous wake. Pitiful.😢
