I was huge into the Lost fan forum DarkUFO back in the day, and there was definitely discussion about what was said during the time it aired and the consensus was as Eric said, "no, we're the survivors of flight 815", it was just chopped up cleverly enough to cause debate. I also feel like the subtitles were purposely wrong as well, but I could be misremembering that. Love the content guys been watching for a while, but these Lost discussions have become something I look forward to every Saturday morning!

Having Lost as one of my favorite shows, I have been thinking of rewatching it again. But this is much better. Looking forward every week to your next episode.

When i watched it more then 15 years ago i also remember the subtitle saying "there are no survivors of oceanic 815" but on internet forums it was debated between that and "we're the survivors of oceanic 815". And yes, sometimes what you read influences what you listen.

The best ending of any episodes ever. It gets me decades after. I just love this character, love this show to death.

Lol right when I heard the Locke theme start, I took off my glasses cause I knew I was about to WEEP. One of my favorite episodes from this season. Locke's theme captures all of his strongest feelings and emotions. Confusion, pain, anger, fear, but underneath the heaviness he finds beauty in it all. I love that the music doesn't stop between the scenes of him screaming in his car to him screaming at the hatch because it really drives home all that he is still experiencing all the pain and confusion he was that day so long ago. He just wants answers. He wants to understand.

Such a great episode. Not only for Terry O' Quinn's performance but how this episode has many Easter Eggs for later on in series.

I couldn't hear the debated line so went to Amazon Prime to listen and I heard, "We're the survivors of flight 815." There was emphasis on the "we're" as well. It's interesting. I didn't catch any of this when I first watched.

You guys rock... first by writing stuff down and 2nd is getting "the music" thing. There are only 2 types of LOST watchers, those that get "it" and those that don't pay attention. Every backstory character has their own music. Michael Giacchino is a genius and as amazing as LOST is, its not the same with the music. Man you guys are in for a special ride....I'm just about to start my 11th rewatch of the greatest series ever...... the 1st one is always special.

Anyone that doesn't cry at that John Locke music is suspect.

I heard a rumor that there’s a large pallet of tarps in the cargo area of the plane, due to a Tarp salesman being onboard. Ya never know… 😉 😂

Going from memory, the original broadcast had the message "There were no survivors from Oceanic..." but because the authors changed their minds afterwards, the subtitles do show the "correct" version. ("Correct" in the sense of "what the other person did reply") I watched the French Canadian version of the show when it aired on TV, and the translated audio also went with the "no survivor" angle.

Damn, Rick said two things in this reaction that blew my mind. Not going to say what they are ...

Boone's wedding company seems too bougie for Rose's practical tastes IMO. I think they had a simple courthouse wedding. But who knows? Maybe!

I watched this translated when it was on tv (cause I don't live in a english speaking country) and I also always thought they say "we're the survivors" but I might've been wrong, I'm not exactly sure now how the translator said it but I'm pretty sure that's how I understood it. Man... I just love LOST!!! And I love your analisis I honestly am always waiting for it on Saturdays

I'm like..78/22 sure on this. When you hear it what 'unknown person' said on that radio in the crashed yellow plane, it does sound like to most people on first listen no matter what u hear it on, 'There are no survivors of Oceanic flight 815' and also, on streaming services it says subtitles say 'there are no' *But* on the DVD subtitles, it does say, 'We're the survivors of Oceanic flight 815'

When hearing the transmission on the radio, we only hear them say "the survivors of Oceanic 815" clearly, due to the static interference. This is done on purpose. We're not supposed to know exactly what's being said. We're meant to speculate, but unfortunately the subtitles kind of take that away from the viewer by telling them "this is what was said". However, the subtitles do somewhat fulfill a similar purpose of throwing you off (if you've seen the show, you know what I mean). That's one of the downsides to watching this show with subtitles, in my opinion.
