My Dad was a fire fighter back during the filming of this movie and was there the night they shot the escape in the rain scenes. He was in charge of hooking up the tanker truck to the rain maker and running the water through for the shot! He said they all hated doing that set of shots, and it was a muddy mess after they finished. Just a little behind the scenes for ya!!

Try 'Sullivan's Travels'. It's about a man who tries to make a film called 'O Brother Where Art Thou?". It's what inspired the Coen Brothers to make it, it's a classic in it's own right. Don't take my word for it, look it up. It's a joy.

You can tell that humor is exactly the same as in Raising Arizona. The characters are unintentionally funny but don't mean to be. The humor comes from the audience appreciating the irony of the situation happening around them and the reactions from the characters.

Too many Hollywood films show beautiful women crying without their makeup running and somehow managing to look pristine and with perfect flowing hair. I can appreciate that not just for the comedic value but for the fact that seeing a woman crying, like genuinely crying in a Hollywood film is rare.

After this film, we used to go into that convenience store and say “Son… you got a panty on your head!” We then had to explain to the clerk what that meant. We currently live in a housing development close to the place where they filmed the outside trailer scenes. The mountains are in the exact position from where my house is. … just slightly disappointed you didn’t include the scene where H.I. scrapes his knuckles across the ceiling during the fight with John Goodman for Nathan. That sticks with me to this day as my favorite second of this film. hehe

@@salbro5985 You should. It’s loosely based on the Big Sleep but it’s hilarious and gets better the more times you see it.

THE best Coen Brothers movie is Intolerable Cruelty, George Clooney and Catherine Zeta Jones are the bees knees. Probably George Clooney's best performance by a mile. A must watch!!

Nic Cage's line "It's a hard world for little things" is taken from the 1955 film noir classic "The Night Of The Hunter" starring Robert Mitchum, Shelley Winters, and Lillian Gish. It was actor Charles Laughton's only directorial effort, but it was BRILLIANT. I haven't seen any KZfaqrs react to it. It's definitely worth a look, if you're interested.

This was filmed in my home town of Tempe, AZ (as well as Apache Junction, Tempe isn't wild desert.) One of my favorite memories as a kid was watching them film the cop car jump scene next to my Mom's job. ADDED: And yes, sunsets ARE that beautiful here most nights.
