The visual symbolism is a masterpiece study of storytelling: 1) Each artist is representing what they were doing when Dre called to do the show. 2) Em: In his "underground lab" pulling bars out of thin air, in a constant battle with his younger self to see who come up with the one bar that will blow away all competition. (But was actually IN the studio working on MTMB2 when Dre first approached him about the show) 3) Snoop: The "classic pimp" driving around checking his 'corners. (But was actually driving around taking care of family stuff when Dre first called about doing the show) 4) Mary: Working it for the cameras, driving the fastest production car in the world at her OWN pace as the other drivers are running around at lightning speed running in circles. (But was in the middle of doing promo-shoots for "Power" when Dre called her.) 5) Kendrick: The "architect" at his drafting table putting together one verse after another, not afraid of tossing an entire sheet of bars if the verse isn't "just right". (Was actually working on his own project when Dre called to do the show.) 6) Dre walking along the coast, hearing "classic beats" everywhere he goes, even in the sound of ocean waves. (But was actually just walking along the beach dealing with his own stuff when the idea first came to him) (PS.. Extra credit for using the sunlight to go "across the keyboard" at the right moment of the Still Dre soundtrack) 7) The chesspieces of King, Queen, Knights and Bishops representing each artist. The most recognized and powerful pieces on the board, representing what kind of influence the artists have had/still have on the rap industry in general. 8) Being moved around and positioned by the "mastermind" behind the scenes, Dre himself (as producer) working to get everything lined up. 9) To achieve the end result. Putting together the most talented, influential, dominating, group of artists to perform AT the brand new LA stadium. 10) Ending it with the classic "California" beat to represent just how much of a "West Coast" influence the city has had on the artists, and the artists have had on the city. (Because even if Em is from Detroit, there is NO denying the massive "west coast" influence that Dre/Snoop/Xzibit/Nate Dog all had on his career when he first broke onto the scene in regard to sound and production levels). Now, do ALL the above in a mere 4 minute trailer while keeping all artists styles highlighted using musical cues, and without "outdoing" one artist over another out of "disrespect". Oh, AT the highest quality, WHILE keeping each section "fresh" for today's market. i didnt write this but...
