Simon pegg is such a nice man. My Daughter went to Alton Towers this year 2023 and they were walking to the first ride and there he was with Wife and Kiddies, so she said hello and he said come on let's have a Photo. His Wife was fine about it. What an Extra Happy day it was. Thankyou Mr Simon Pegg.

The pub names are symbolic of the plot points. The First Post - it's the first pub The Old Familiar - because it's identical to the first. The Famous Cock - where Gary is first recognised The Cross Hands - where the gang first really come together The Good Companions - where they all agree to pretend to be friends having a night out The Trusty Servant - Gary tries to confide in Reverend Green The Two-Headed Dog - where they fight the twins The Mermaid - where they meet 'sirens' who try to seduce them The Beehive - where the Network's "hive" motivation is established The King's Head - where we get into Gary's 'head' and his problems The Hole in the Wall - Andy makes a literal hole as he drives into the pub The World's End - self explanatory.

To add to this The famous cock - Gary is barred from for acting like a cock The crossed hands - The first fight, they cross hands with blanks. The trusty servant - They learn of the human servants to the blanks, also showing the blanks are not robots because they aren't servants. The beehive - more literally they kicked the beehive and got swarmed The kings head - Gary had to use his head in the smokehouse to prove he is human

A lot of people ask "what's up with the sword at the end?" Of course he has a sword. And not a sword, THE sword. Because the King, as foretold, has returned in the time of Britain's greatest need, and has once again taken up his sword. Yes, this is an Arthurian story (confirmed by the writers). They even have references in the dialogue to the Arthurian legends at various points in the dialogue. Reinforcing the whole medieval link are the names of the characters: King, Prince, Knightley, Chamberlain, Page. The blanks at the end aren't musketeers, they're the first of the new Knights of the Round Table.

Fun fact. Pubs in Britain have funny names because back in the old days a lot of people couldn’t read so pubs had different distinctive signs so people could then communicate about the place without knowing the actual names.
@Unethical.Dodgson
@Unethical.Dodgson 4 ай бұрын
Fun but not really a fact. The truth is that pub names are locality, folklore, myths, local legends, etc. Though SOME of them are named after the basic depictions of their signage. It's not necessarily because of literacy.

After this movie, you two might like "PAUL", again with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It also stars Sigourney Weaver and Kristen Wiig. In a similar theme to World's End alien takeover, a truly terrifying film is 1978s INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS.
@stevensauer8539
@stevensauer8539 Жыл бұрын
Other fun variants on the story are the 1994 film adaptation of the story that probably inspired Body Snatchers, R.A.Heinleins "The Puppet Masters", amusingly enough starring Donald Sutherland, who was in the '78 version of Body Snatchers, and the 1998 Robert Rodriguez movie "The Faculty", starring a whole host of '90s teen stars, plus Famke Janssen, Robert Patrick, Salma Hayek, and Jon Stewart. Both Puppet Masters and Body Snatchers are referenced in the dialogue.

The scene where peter talks about being bullied, and how his bully looked straight through him really got to me. Even though we know the outcome and the reason for why he didn't recognise him; but imagining you are in your mid to late 40s, you see your bully out somewhere, and they don't recognise you, walking straight past you. You'd think someone who bullied you quite a lot would at least recognise you; yet the pain you take with you your whole life, to be forgotten about by someone who ruined your childhood.

Great reaction! I love the little details in the movie altough Garys character was really sad. He wanted to end his life (bandages on the wrists, therapy) and wanted to have his best night for one more time again. If you rewatch the first few minutes where Gary describes the pub crawl that he and his friends went on when they were kids, it pretty much describes the plot of the movie regarding the adult pub crawl. i.e. O-Man disappears after the 5th (?) pub, Gary and Sam going into the bathroom, the remaining friends ending up on the hill overlooking the town with a red glow in the sky, etc.

We used to do around the world at uni, each room in the dorm would be a different country. So that room would purchase a bottle of whatever booze comes from that country and then decorate the room accordingly...could only leave and move to the next room when the bottle was finished. There were a lot of rooms lol...holy shit...surprised no one died lol

I grew to love this one - it sort of hit too hard first time as it was a bit too close to home in areas - but it's a fantastic movie. Hard to pick a favourite of the three to be honest. This was a brilliant reaction from you two, had an absolute blast hanging out with you.

I think Daniel Craig was the best James Bond, but my favourite was George Lazenby. The keen eyed amongst you will have noticed that the girl sitting next to Simon Pegg in the therapy group is none other than Mary, the first zombie Simon and Nick had to deal with, in the garden in Sean of the Dead.

Had lots of fun watching you guys react to this. I think it is really underrated. For me, Hot Fuzz is best, then (a bit controversially) this one, then Shaun of the Dead. The whole Cornetto trilogy is great. Fantastic writing, acting and directing.

I love watching reactors when they get to the pub toilet scene and WTF-ness ensues!!! Great reaction to my personal fave Cornetto flick. Side note O-man's sister Sam is played by Rosamond Pike, she also starred as a Bond Girl in one of your favourite Peirce Brosnan Bond films 'Die another Day' too. If you want to see Nick Frost kicking off and fighting properly watch AMC's 'Into the Badlands' a really underrated postapocalyptic show.

By far the best of the trilogy imo, think the bias of it being the last one got people favouring the others but this one is just finessed maximally

There was also a Bond Girl in this movie:- The sister of Oliver Chamberlain (played by Martin Freeman), Sam Chamberlain, (Played by Rosamund Mary Ellen Pike), was the Bond Girl, Miranda Frost, in Die Another Day, (2002), Rosamund Mary Ellen Pike, (born 1979) is a British actress. She began her acting career by appearing in stage productions such as Romeo and Juliet and Gas Light. After her screen debut in the television film A Rather English Marriage (1998), she received international recognition for her film debut as Bond girl Miranda Frost in Die Another Day (2002), for which she received the Empire Award for Best Newcomer. Following her breakthrough, she won the BIFA Award for Best Supporting Actress for The Libertine (2004) and portrayed Jane Bennet in Pride & Prejudice (2005). 🇬🇧😎👍🏼

Great reaction! I have recommened many before but i think now you must do Spaced, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as best friends again with Edgar Wrights signature direction. I also think you'd enjoy 24 Hour Party People, a film about Manchester and Factory Records in the 80s and 90s. Great story, full of actors you'd recognise and another great performance from Paddy Considine!

World's End, like the other two in the trilogy has more than just plot for re-watch reasons. It has tons of references and clever foreshadowing, running gags from the other two films and go back and pay attention to the names and styles of the pubs. Old familiar was the same as the first pub as it was a dejavu joke, King's Head was where King was unconscious for a bit and had a head injury. World's End was the pub that caused... The world's end... Etc..
