Watch our very first 2022 racing pigeons training toss! I really put the 2022 young birds to the test for their first toss: single tosses at 2 air miles!! Watch to see how they did!

Ah James too funny- we are watching your post and laughing...setting up a chair in the parking lot isn't half as funny as the motorist driving by watching you kneel down in the shoulder of the road and holding a pigeon in front of a phone... Happy flying !!!!

As a new fancier, it's a great learning for me to watch your videos. I have only around 15 birds at present and I am very much interested to join a local racing club here and race birds. But I know without having good genetic birds it's not possible. It's great to watch your birds, loft and your training tosses. It's a dream for me.... Thanks for sharing the videos Sir. 🙏 Love from INDIA 🇮🇳

Keep at it my friend!! You will get there with hard work and perseverance! Most of us start out with mediocre birds and improve our stock over time. Wish there was a way to ship birds to India! Good luck!

Most of this tossing seems a loss of time, money and energy. Beginners are fooled by it. If results are bad they think they didn't toss enough or whatever. I very rarely have had a bad result in a race. I never tossed. I now remember that when I raced together with my nephew, in the club we won first price 12(!) weeks in a row. In this club raced about 350 - 400 birds every week. We raced 12 widowhood cocks. In the more than 100 year history of the club this never has happened before or after. The birds we're never tossed.

If you have the time once the birds are at 45km to 50km and have been group tossed from that location a few times put them up in twos it really sharpens them up .

First toss and singles, you are a brave man. I am nervous enough group tossing the first 5 or 6 times. It would be interesting to see if they all just hung out in the area and then grouped up coming home together or not. Best of luck on you training. I am at the 7 mile mark with mine right now. Have fun.

It really would be interesting to see that. I will see what I can do with the gps rings. At least we’d see if 4-5 of them met up and flew together. Good luck with your road training!!

Hi there sir. I'm your new subscriber and wondering before the first toss, how old are they? did they loft fly first? I just started this hobby and I have few young birds needs to be trained now. Thank you!
@RFRP
@RFRP Жыл бұрын
Before the first toss they should be loft flying regularly and routing/ranging.

I like putting two up together i feel to they compete against eachother . I like to group toss the birds from the location a few times before doing the 2 up tossing .

How many minutes in between each release?
@RFRP

It varied from bird to bird, but typically about 4 minutes between each bird

I did not this time. Once I get them out to 30 miles or more I’ll start using the gps bands

Love to see your videos, but it all seems a little odd to me. What's the sense of all this tossing? Did you ever race without tossing? I have been in pigeon racing for about 50+ years. Very rarely a bad result, mostly excellent results. We toss our youngbirds just 1 time; normally Tuesday (10miles) before first race (60 miles) on Saturday. All birds fly together. Thats all. Old birds same. Remembering the year '95: we won 12x first of 12 races in a row in club. No tossing. There was this trucker that tossed his birds almost every day. (Very rare in Holland) Our birds did much better. 1,2,3, not being an exception. We flew 12 widowhood cocks. This was in a Dutch part of Flanders.

Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience and success with us! Do you not toss/train your young birds?
@leunisvandewege9651
@leunisvandewege9651 Жыл бұрын
@@RFRP Hi, appreciate your reaction. We traditionally toss them 1 time some days before first race (60miles). That's all. But even that is not necessary. I remember Piter Beerda (the strain Jelle Jellema's pigeons are based upon) not even doing that. I found out he won first prize various times with a pigeon that NEVER had been tossed or raced before.(As I did myself) Piter raced in a different part of the Netherlands. I mentioned this year 1995 because I remembered this trucker competing and thinking his tossing was his "secret". His results were good, but ours were much better.

@@leunisvandewege9651 wow! I find that fascinating!! So I assume you just condition the birds with long loft flying then?
@leunisvandewege9651
@leunisvandewege9651 Жыл бұрын
@@RFRP Hi, not sure what you mean by "long loft flying" Our widowhood cocks go out 6 o'clock (punctually) in the morning and 5 o'clock in the afternoon for approx. 1 hour. They don't go out if weather conditions are unfavourable. In the beginning of the week (after race) they fly about 20 minutes and stay in sight. Then, when condition starts to come back again, they'll fly longer and longer and stay out of sight longer and come back individually. Just to fight and chase eachother on the roof, regroup again and go for about half an our again. In the end of the week they'll fly about one hour. (If not we have a problem on our hands). So the birds NEVER are oubliged to fly. Widowhood cocks in good condition love to fly fast and energetically. Most beautiful sight in the world: a band of widowhood cocks cutting through a light early morning mist. P.S. English is not my first language, so please if you don't understand: ask.

Too close to the power lines.. Never release them that close to power lines. You're asking for trouble.. I would have stepped over that fence into the pasture and released them from there..
