Racing pigeon loft update! 2021 racing pigeons are starting on a light feed mix, optimal for training and racing. In this vid I show our last few young birds / 2021 racing pigeons that will be raced this year learning to enter the racing pigeon loft through the trap door. The VL Black Label is my go-to for breeders and developing youngsters. The Energy mix is awesome for training and racing. Great stuff and reasonably priced!

Hey it wasn’t a good idea to leave feed and water in the shipping jug. Water will absolutely spill, and the feed will cause them to eat, and if no water they will choke on the seeds because of a dry throat. Just feed and water them before shipping and don’t worry about them. They’ll be ok, they have all the body fat they can consume first. Plus being hungry right out the box helps settles rhe birds easier into their new lofts. Good luck buddy, keep us updated 👍

Thanks for weighing in! Always appreciate hearing other fancier’s insights! And I welcome constructive criticism. Yeah I can see your point about the water most likely getting spilled and I try to craft the water container to be as spill-proof as possible 😆. You are right that they will do fine in The mail for a few days going off of the water and food in their crop plus their fat reserves. I only include the water in the event they get lost in the mail system for several days to a week. I’ve heard sad stories of birds being routed incorrectly and not making it alive. 😢 so this is how I have always shipped my birds. Thanks again!!

@@RFRP Back then , I was always asked to not have any water or fluids in the box, to make sure no spills happens. If the box gets wet, the fluids and liquids can cause the box to fail, and also a bio hazard leak. Besides that, having water along with the pigeons is cool, if the handlers help handle properly.

I am looking for help for a problem a friend of mine has. I gifted him 3 breeding pair from my COOP, not a loft. He has a coop also with chicken wire South facing front. For 3 months he has NO indication of pigeons attempting to nest. The main difference between his setup and mine is the feeding. For my 30 birds, I feed 2 cup of feed. For his 8 birds he, feeds a quart a day. To start, I know he's feeding way to much which leftover feed could cause mice at night and than snakes. He has seen them both inside his coop. But besides the over feeding, what else could cause the lack of nesting activity.?? Please, your opinion.

Difficult to say for sure, but you are right about the excessive feeding being an issue. Here are my initial thoughts. This assumes that we are 100% confident on the sex of the birds and that there are cocks and hens. 1) Sometimes the birds need more time to feel settled in their new home before they will go down on eggs 2) Are there sufficient nesting boxes and bowls? 3) does the coop have some walls and not just an aviary? 4) are there already established pairs in the coop? If so they may be dominating the nesting sites and floor

Hmm that’s surprising. I wonder why? You can always purchase birds online and have them shipped to you, but that comes with the added shipping expenses

Hmm 🤔 That is strange. Is there a chance the corn is old, spoiled or infested with grain beetles?? Maybe try a new batch of corn or different variety. Keep me posted!

Do you racing guys not use linseed conditioner seed for trapping ?? I starve my young horseman pouters when training them to come in boxes n even just walk on landing board to teach them bring n work a strange bird on board or in boxes with linseed .. I thought yous guys would have used that .. that seed looks like (gerry plus )
