I love my new Husqvarna YTH46. I recently had to re-adjust my valves for pressure release so it would start normal. I used to think my batteries were going bad and replaced them without much luck, until I finally found it was my valves. Runs like a dream after 60 hrs.!

I have that same mower and I’ve been working on doing much of the same stuff on it. I have a terrible memory so I had taken pictures as I was disassembling but there were several steps that I forgot to get pictures of and couldn’t quite remember just what went where as far as the air filter assembly goes. This was very helpful for me as I couldn’t find really anything on disassembling or reassembling this particular mower.

I have this model, +/- a model year, and it won't run without the choke being all the way out. This was just what I needed. I'll be ordering a tune-up kit shortly.

Did you/do you have to reset the governor after replacing the carburetor? with my new card the engine is really over revving like crazy.

No. It cranked up and has been running fine for a year now.

I have the same mower 22years old allso. Started missing last season put new plug in it got me thru that season this year started it up starts right up but running bad put new plugs in didn't help running rich i can small gas the mor i ran it the worse it got. remove plugs they were black. check choke it's working fing do you have any suggestion.

Definitely sounds like it's running rich (too much gas). I'm assuming you adjusted the needle valve to lean it out. Maybe a new needle valve would fix it? It could be the float valve....that's why I changed the carburetor....chasing little problems will drive you crazy.

I had this mower for the last 3 years and it will not stop running I really like it, only problem is a can't seem to adjust the deck side to side, deck rubs on the rh back tire and left side has 3" gap no matter how I adjust it seems to never work, makes me wonder if its bent🤷🏽‍♂️

Our tire stems got so old, they cracked and we had to replace them....but tires still good. Cranked right up this spring. Love this mower!

Hey there- getting ready to make the purchase of the carb kit through your affiliate link but have a quick question. You mention in the title 1542XP and in the description you say 2542XP. Not sure if it makes a difference in the parts but wanted to see if you could clarify which model you are working on? Thanks in advance:)

@@AM-nx9kf I will fix that type. The 15 is for 15hp. The 42 is for 42" cut. I don't know what XP is!

Two screws. After you removed the filter and did all the wrangling of lines and linkages, did you put those two screws back in before you re-installed the cover???

How long would this lawn mower be expected to last after 700 hours? I found a used one in great shape, but 700 hours gives me pause. About how many hours on yours?

350 hours. It's got the Kawasaki engine....runs as good now as it did when it was new.

330 hrs I think. And yes, the gas tank was under warranty but I replaced it.

Bought ours early 2001, has just under 500 hours and runs very well for its age. Some minor carb issues, but seems normal for this model. Have tried sealing tank w/o luck, so spent $125 on new unit.
