Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the #travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this #travelvlog to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! After achieving our new goal of 100 countries before 2020 and all 7 continents, we have no plans to slow down anytime soon, and we are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

Always disconnect the positive terminal from the battery before working on any of the electricals. Disconnecting the negative terminal stops the flow of current, but the voltage is still present if the positive terminal is connected.

THIS! I was holding my breath the whole time! Electric for dummies: 1) Turn off all power to battery. 2) unplug positive 3) unplug negative/ ground. So long as things are grounded/negative, you have a very low risk of sparking and getting electrocuted. Same goes for jumping a dead car battery.

I love how Nate is not scared or ashamed to call his dad when he needs help with something and very openly accepts that he's not an expert at electricity and stuff, it actually makes me have so much respect for him as opposed to have him trying to act all cool and know-it-all. A lot of people, once they're adults, feel like calling their parents for help represents failure but we're all human and we don't know it all and asking for help is very humbling and deserves the most respect. And in the end he was able to fix it, and he learned and I honestly was surprisingly so proud even though I wasn't there and I don't personally know them. And Kara, cheering him on and being the most enthusiastic is so beautiful. You guys are one of the best couples, love the values you have and share with each other

When I've watched other van tours/channels and they say 'here's where we keep all of our tools because there is always something to fix in the van'.... I used to think 'really?' but now watching you two give us the REAL deal of owning and kitting out your van I think 'heck yeah, those tools are necessary!' Thank you Kara and Nate for getting the van and taking us along for this new adventure with you (sans airport lounges and airplanes :))

By drilling your lug to be bigger you're reducing the current that can flow through the lug. Go on amazon and order the right size lugs so you dont short out your system during a larger power draw + catch fire ;-)

Thank you for continually encouraging us to push the boundaries in our own travel and get outside our comfort zone! Here's to hostels with kids, eating all the street food and living off coffee :)

Reminds me of the RV trip I took with my parents. We bought an RV from 1988, and i think you can see where this is going. It was the middle of the summer, the AC didn't work, there were leaks, some of the screws of one of the hubcaps came lose causing us to be stranded in North Dakota for a day or two waiting to get it fixed, and we just went through a million other problems the whole time. This van life video reminds me of that experience xD (it was still an amazing trip though, despite the problems with the RV)

Thank you for sharing. You two are the best!!!! Love how you handle things and just get it done!!!!! You are one of the few channels I let my 14 yr old watch. I want her to know there are options in life. That you are only limited by the unwillingness to try. TO do things even when you're scared. Thanks for being such great role models for her to look up to.

Nurse here who grew up RVing, you will want to rinse the toilet tank after you dump it so it doesn't stink up the van. You can also go to a dump station and use the hose there after dumping so you don't need to akwardly dump and rinse in the bathroom. Can't wait to "travel" with you again.

Can I just say how excited I am that y’all are doing van life stuff? My KZfaq taste changes from kick to kick depending on my current interests. I work for Southwest Airlines, so when I first got my job a year and a half ago I was watching tons of flight and travel videos and that’s when I started watching y’all. Then van stuff started popping up and I have been watching van builds for the last six months or so. And now y’all decided to do it and it’s so cool that I get to see someone I’m already familiar with from the beginning of the journey!
