Comparing 1 year d coordinator Staley to Harbough is insane. The culture change Jim will inspire is gonna be nuts and remember 6 of their losses last year were by 3 or less so it’s not like they’re WAY off and it doesn’t take years for a great HC to turn a program around ie McVey in LA, Pederson in Jacksonville. NE won for twenty years and KC is winning now with a great HC, QB, Oline and situationally great D. Chargers are following this blueprint and are gonna be a force. Want some free money? The game plan is never to beat the Chiefs, it’s to try to stop Patrick Mahomes and that’s why other teams continue to lose to that team. They focus way too much on trying to prove that Mahomes is not invincible and the best player ever instead of just trying to win.

And Andy Reid is signed on for six more years. I don’t doubt the Chargers will eventually get better but as long as Mahomes and Reid are in KC the Chiefs are winning the AFC West. Then Spags was extended and he will continue to lead the defense.

Every year either the offense is elite or the defense is elite or both. But he is extremely good at winning with a good team, better than almost anyone ever.

To help you understand, the chiefs in 2017 scored 25.7 ppg with Alex Smith. In 2018, with the exact same team, Mahomes lead the chiefs to 35.9 ppg. That's the 3rd best of all time. The 2017 chiefs aren't in the top 100.

Coming from a Chargers fan, I do not expect to suddenly take over the Chiefs. Andy Reid is an amazing coach, and obviously Patrick Mahomes is an amazing quarterback. Nobody can deny Harbaugh is an elite coach, and only an idiot who doesn't understand statistics or watch football would say Herbert isn't elite. Harbaugh will elevate the team to a level where they can be competitive, but by no means do I see them taking over necessarily.

The way I see it, the Chargers are somewhere between 8-9 & 10-7, depending on how good some of their mid opponents are this year. Anywhere in that range puts them in 2nd in the AFC West. 10-7 may get them in the playoffs, depending on how good the other 3 AFC divisional 2nd place teams do.

KC looked like a hot mess about 1/3 of the season. Massive amount of WR drops that made them look like high school receivers, among other problems. Then they go in the road for a 2-game gauntlet in the playoffs after beating MIA, many gave them little chance to beat Buf and Balt. If anyone was going to "get" the Chiefs it was last season. You missed your chance boys, KC for 3.

Injury aside Mahomes can not be toppled this year in the division. There is no way, Mahomes is investing in his legacy this year. Kansas will win their first playoff game, but may lose to chance afterwards.

Their first playoff game will probably be divisional round. Chiefs will most likely win AFC with those new weapons & defense still being elite. It's going to be extremely tough to beat KC in regular season

How? Herbert has dealt with more BS than any QB entering the league. No coaching, no defense, revolving pieces on offense, mangled body parts and Cherry on top no actual Homefield advantage. He took over a roster that Rivers got fired with and set records with the most snake bitten franchise in the league KNOWN for squandering talent. Purdy is just Garapollo 2.0.

THIS! I'm the furthest thing from a Chiefs fan, too. The teams that could possibly give them trouble are Jets if 100% healthy, and Rodgers is back to his 35-year-old level? The Jacksonville Jaguars. The Houston Texans. Lastly? The Cleveland Browns depends on Chubb's recovery prospects. I think the Bengals, Bills, and Dolphins are all falling further back now. Chargers are 2 years away from challenging for the division. That's when I see Kelce walking off into the sunset, and Chris Jones falls off a cliff skill level wise for the Chiefs. That's when they will come back down towards the pack.

Like any trained liar, he spins a few limited facts (and ignores the greater body of other facts) in a highly dishonest way. That's his brand of entertainment. Because he knows how to make an argument, his hyperbolic nonsense sounds compelling to those fans who crave to believe it. It's kind of funny until those fans take it seriously, repeat it and say things like "hes been right". That his team won doesn't make his biased opinions "right" or a "fact".

The difference is in the coaching, that’s how we feel in Bmore. Also, Baltimore plays the tougher schedule, but none of that matters to Mahomes.

Like a broken record. Whenever you try to make a case for a player such as Brock Purdy or any other good QB that Nick deems unacceptable... its all about the coach and the team. He yells from the rafters that its a team sport. But when it comes to Mahomes... its Mahomes beat this team. Or Mahomes beat that team. Or Mahomes beat the entire AFC West single handedly. I've never seen a sports pundit bury objectivity and integrity alive as much as Nick. Well, I guess besides skip. Not good company to be in.

It's the NFL. Players get hurt. You can't say no chance. Plus Jim Harbaugh took a 6-10 Niners team and went 13-3 his first year there. That's good enough to win the division if he can somehow replicate that. Doesn't mean they would be better than a healthy Kansas City going into the playoffs or more favored to win the Super Bowl.

The AFC West is the Chief's house, everybody else in that division is just paying rent. The Chargers will be lucky if they don't swept again by the Chiefs. I'm not a Brady guy by any means, but I'm surprised his win rate in the AFC East wasn't better. I think the Jets had like, five good years, total, while Brady was there, Miami would get a weird win over the Pats every couple of seasons, and the Bills were dog water the entire time.

Super easy to punch down, nick, but you're still punching down. Standards are still a lot higher bc you're used to having endless resources and bodies and success. Mahomes could realistically play with 21 backups and prolly make the playoffs. Why dock the bolts for the same woes at wr with arguably similar qb talent?
