Great video, Greg. You must stay awake at night dreaming of these plans. My 14 year old relative was out duck hunting and shot a couple of them out on the ice. When he went out to retrieve them he fell through the ice and never came up. He was loaded down with shot shells, heavy boots, and lots of warm clothing. Don’t play around when it comes to ice. Thanks

Used to make that same style of trap for birds and squirrels as a kid. Didn't exactly know the name for it I just called it the catapult trap because the way the string tension is wound. Mine wasn't a bit different because I would use two branches that were parallel with each other to support the string. Does it get cold enough here for ice fishing

There's humidity in the air, temperatures low but not too low. I find this kind of wheather the most straining when it comes to keeping warm and starting a fire. No need for the wood chips to be wet, just slightly damp and cool, you're gonna have a hard time to get it going. Warming it up may help. Crumpling or cutting the pitch is certainly helpful, too. Anything to increase the surface for the sparks to catch.

Best wish to all.... "You don't get to choose the events that come your way;, nor the sorrows that interrupt your life. You may hold your head in your hands and lament your weaknesses, your condition and wonder what you ought to do. To suffer, that's common to all, but to keep composure, faith and a smile is remarkable. This pain will change you more profoundly then success or good fortune. The suffering shapes your perception of life; your values and priorities, your goals and dreams, pain makes you; you are alive"

Greg I’m a new subscriber to your channel. I have been going back & enjoying all of your videos. I absolutely love how you explain how to use simple things in the everyday outdoors to your benefit when you are out in nature. You don’t have to be some huge KZfaq “star” or go spend mega money to be able to go out & learn bushcraft & life skills. My Dad used to go hunting when I was little & I always helped process the deer. We always did that in his shop. But I enjoyed watching you show how to process one in the field. I know that isn’t for everyone BUT once upon a time that was the ONLY way a lot of families survived. They hunted, processed, preserved & cooked their own food. Unless you were lucky enough to have money. Never hurts to know these life skills. Thank you for for sharing your stories & educating us with your knowledge you have gained over the years. Look forward to seeing what else you come up with. PS….I appreciate your honesty in trial & error. Sometimes that’s the best way to learn. Rocks exploding in a fire….I never knew that could happen but I sure do now. 😉. Keep up the great work Greg!!

Hey Greg. Rob here. My wife Sue and I are new subscribers to your channel this year .love your videos. always fun and informative. We do a lot of outdoors adventures too and i thought you would really appreciate how you saved our butts the other day...... Ever since we say your video on always having a lighter , that always stuck in my head. Now I check that I have one every time. We headed out to our deer blind for some bacon and eggs here in Alberta -32 overnight. We have a buddy heater there with a 20 lb cylinder. I thought it could be Jelling up in the cold, so i brought a 1 lb er, warm in my pocket just in case. we have a butane stove too and i usually warm the butane up on the buddy heater if its too cold........ Trouble was that the buddy heater wouldn't light, no way, no pressure. I figured the regulator just above the 1 lb cylinder was frozen up. I used the lighter to warm up the regulator just a little bit and problem solved.....Thanks for the tip...keep em coming.
