Save the Harbor was founded in 1986 to advocate for the completion of the Boston Harbor cleanup, transforming Boston Harbor into a space filled with recreational, educational, and economic opportunities. We led the effort to create the Boston Harbor Islands National Park, eliminated sewer overflows and storm water discharges that were polluting North Dorchester Bay, and continue to lead critical efforts to improve Boston’s water quality, public harbor access, and marine education. We are committed to strengthening our communities and our environment through free events, programs, and educational activities on the region’s public beaches from Nahant to Nantasket.
