I spooled it with 8 LB test mono for lighter lures, gave it some practice casts and found that it did cast well kzfaq.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e , except that the anti-backlash setting had to be turned up almost all of the way to keep the "overcasts' ' down. I disassembled it, and found that if I potted some "shim washers" behind that anti-backlash magnet assembly, it got the magnets closer to the spool without rubbing, and I could get better control with about a 6 to 7 out out 10-Max setting. I also noticed that the handle shaft had some internal end play, maybe only 2 or 3 thousands of an inch, but it's still noticeable. If the anti-backlash and shaft tolerances were "tightened up" this would be a fantastic value. I've only used it for 4 days of fishing in a month's time, but I plan on keeping it.

Great vid! I do believe there is a way to lip pickerel. If you close their mouth and hold it from the outside you can find a little divit where you can grip them!

Using a net or reaching down into the water to grab the fish is always advisable. Don't want you to break your line or catch a hook in the face holding a squirming fish out of the water letting gravity help it break free.

If you tire pickerel out more instead of just landing them straight away, they would be easier to handle. That's pretty much key for any tricky to handle species. I do that for gar, Bowfin, and catfish.

I'm like you 1Rod. I have a kayak and enjoy it but grinding on the bank is what makes me happy. I picked up a Deeper as well and it's pretty awesome what's its done for my knowledge of the ponds/lakes I fish from the bank or kayak. Don't get me wrong I love rolling on a boat on the water and getting to spots quick but landing a 6lb from the bank is a great feeling. Long time viewer man keep it rolling man!

The Raven. I caught a 41 and 1/2 in Northern in 2002 (Tied with the current State Record length), Pops caught a 19 in crappie (state record 1979). Too bad the Pickerel have taken over. Great Vid!

I use a textured runner glove to get a good grip on the Snot Rocket. It is a great game fish but is hard to unhook without the right glove and needlenose pliers or such. If you catch and eat fish they are one of the best if you filet them right (see KZfaqr videos). The meat is white and flaky like Halibut.

62-66 degrees ny man!..your bass are up doing their spawning thing or have just completed it.Your throwing moving baits getting active feeding fish (pickerel)when you should be SLOWING down throwing in back of pockets , spawning flats or nearest structure close to those areas with a texas rig,drop shot or wacky rig.C'mon One Rod,your experienced,Its not summertime where you fish fast on deeper points yet lol

Loch Raven is very tricky this time of year! I prefer natural presentations like Shad colored swimbaits on jigheads or finesse worms on shaky heads. Also the weightless rigged lunker log (senko style) bait works great too! Lots of people skunk at loch Raven, but once you figure the place out it’s an amazing place to fish!! 🎣👊

I was using a wacky rigged senko at first today and then switched to a craw and lastly to a chartreuse and white chatter bait but had no luck. Bro ive been hooked by them toothy little slime darts! With a mini klutch! Theyre mean I got hooked while the treble was also still in his mouth and the other treble hooked my jeans, while sitting on a kayak! If my boy wasnt there, i would have been screwed! My hand was pinned to the fish and my jeans and I almost passed out lol

@1Rod1ReelFishing oh dude, by far my sketchiest fishing moment ever! I'm from NY, so we don't deal with gators or anything, but I did have a beaver come straight for my kayak but dove into the water and disappeared like 10 feet from me, lol crazy times on the water! But can't beat the fun of it!

Ibobber is trash I’ve used it, deeper battery lasts 8-12 hours on a charge and actually functions as an accurate sonar device 👍
