I head down to fish Pevensey Bay, setting up at a spot known locally as the kiosk (free on-street parking!). There was loads of fish caught, with dogs, rockling, pout and whiting all making an appearance. Check out the video for a chat about the new Hybrid lead from Shorecast, where I talk about the fishing situations where it is a great addition to your tackle box.
Keep an eye on the channel as I'll soon be showing off a new rig that I designed specifically for plaice fishing. The torpedo rig will be launched soon! Both in to the sea and on this channel.
Please like and subscribe if you like my video. Plenty more to come.

Thanks for the lovely feedback John! I love using multipliers and don’t really like fixed spools that much but I do see they have their place. I’m actually thinking about whether to take my fixed spools to Norway as I’m expecting it to be really cold - doing my line lay nicely when my hands are totally frozen ain’t so applealing lol. 🥶 😂

Just the one dab which came on the last cast. During the day there were plaice, whiting, dogs, flounder, rockling, pout and a solitary dab to finish

Move the lead, give the reel a few turns looking for the fish, you said. I'm 63 years old, I've been fishing since I was 6, I say; If necessary, even if it is not, use a lighter sinker than necessary to have a firm grip, heavy enough to ensure that the line does not come to shore with the tide but allows the sinker itself to go in search of the fish, allows some movement , which will get the sinker into a hole that is exactly where the fish go looking for food.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I agree, each style of lead has its place. I enjoy experimenting when I am fishing. One plaice season a couple of years ago, I fished two rods (same rigs, casting same distance, same bait etc), one with a grip lead and the other a plain rolling lead. More bites on the plain lead but more hook ups on the grip lead. Same result over multiple sessions. Of course sometimes a rolling lead will out-fish the grip lead, so it’s always good to try different techniques to see what works on the day. I see the hybrid lead as a good option when you want the lead to provided grip-lead-like resistance to support hook-ups, but still have the ability to search out the fish yourself. I hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for your comment!

Great video, enjoyed that. Up here in the North East the modest Dab generally gets ignored. However, I personally love fishing for these little monkies. I must pay a visit to the southern beaches. Thank for sharing Gem 👍

Thanks for your lovely comment. I love heading out on a flattie session and it’s been a good year for dabs down here. Sadly not for me on this trip, but I was out trying, in the fresh air and having fun. Catching those dabs would have been a bonus.

Great video Gem, do you think Pevensey fishes better on flood or ebb ?I've only fished it on the flood with mixed results . 👍
@ClickBaitGem
@ClickBaitGem 5 ай бұрын
Thanks -pleased to hear you liked the video. I’ve had good results on both flood and ebb. But for schoolies always best just after low up to when the water hits the shingle, provided there is a decent bit of surf running. Always had best results on fresh outs when chasing the schoolies.

Why .23 line why no lbs
@ClickBaitGem
@ClickBaitGem 5 ай бұрын
Good question! I honestly can’t recall the breaking strain; I was using Trabucco tapered line. To me, the diameter of the line is more important as it impacts casting distance and resistance in the tide. Thinner line means less tide drag on the line and potentially better bite indication. I wouldn’t use line that thin on my multipliers though, I go for 0.35 which is usually 15lb.

If you love casting multipler reels Try get a Abu 6500 ct chrome rocket Best ever casting reel I’ve had me over 20 years
@ClickBaitGem
@ClickBaitGem 5 ай бұрын
I used to have a 6500 CT Rocket that I bought in the early 1990s but I sold it as I didn’t use it enough. Now I think of it, I wrote a mini review of that reel for one of the fishing magazines back then (not Sea Angler, but I can’t recall which magazine it was). I think the best Abu reel I ever had was the first one they released with a CT cage. The black 6500CT. I ordered it from my local shop as soon as it was announced as being released and spent weeks saving my pocket money for it. I went in and paid, I think it was about £85, in pound coins! I still have one of those reels today and have used it over the field. When I am down the beach I prefer mags to be honest (we all have our own preferences) as I love being able to readily adjust the speed of the spool as conditions dictate. As well as the Banzai, I have Diawa 7hts. Oh and Penn fathom 15s. Too many reels 🤪. So yeah, I do love casting multiplies 😃

Hi gem what is your review of the transfixed Beach shelter
@ClickBaitGem
@ClickBaitGem 5 ай бұрын
Hi Stephen, guessing you mean the Tronixpro shelter, the Snug? It’s a great lightweight shelter. In my videos from December you can see me using it in some hefty winds. It’s very well suited to one person, not being as spacious as a bigaloo. On my longer sessions I need a door on my shelter (for probably obvious reasons!) and that’s the only thing the Snug is missing.
