Fishing Pyramid Lake! (Giant Trout)

I had the chance to drive from Washington to Cali for a few day trip and decided that a little detour into Nevada would definitely be worth my time. Beautiful trout, I’d say 12lbs or more, as fish look smaller on video,

So it's a challenge out there, and it's all about putting your time in , for sure, and having the right gear like an 8wt rod or a 7wt switch with a reel to match. So, an update from what I'm hearing on Pyramid is that the price has gone up for fishing and camping. The issue I have with this is the increase for the camping per day. Most places I've camped paying this price have bathrooms with showers and hot water and designated camp sites with fire pits, I just want people to understand the price they pay should have these benefits.

I definitely got very lucky with a one day trip to land such a nice trout! Thanks for the update, it's a bummer to hear that the prices have gone up but that seems to be the norm around the entire US at this point so it doesn't surprise me. Hopefully the campsites are improved to at least make the cost a little easier to swallow.

Where did you guys fish from shore? We are going back to pyramid but not very familiar with spot to fish from shore? Would you be able to recommend few spot that we can fish from shore?

To be honest that was my first time there and I was just following my buddy around the lake! I know we fished just south of the restaurant for a while and he normally does well there. We also fished near a big parking area north of the restaurant but to be honest i wasnt 100% sure of our location. I would go into the shop, buy a couple lures, and ask them where they would recommend. Hope you catch a big one!

@@LifeOutdoors You did great out there! The teeth alone on those bruisers will let you know that they mean business. I've landed some 10s, lost one on a chironomid that took me 40yds into the backing. We're fortunate to have such a treasure of a fishery.

@@RoryLynott Thank you! First time fighting a trout of that size in still water, it was such a blast. One of the most unique fisheries in the US, definitely a honor to be able to fish that body of water.

Good deal man! So spin fishing for trout I prefer little rooster tails, small jerk baits in rainbow trout or brown trout colors, and then always a safe bet is using some power bait if the fishing is really tough. Light line, ultra light rod, and use braid as your main line as it will be easier to cast!

Got the 4wt recon and been putting that to work, but I wanted to fill that hole in my collection. It's amazing how few reviews there are on that rod. Trident didn't do it justice in their review. Saying the swing weight was its "downfall" in their raiting. Looking forward to forming my own opinion! Thanks again!:D

Maybe I need to make a review on the series! I have it in the 5wt and the 8wt and honestly don’t know if you can beat the quality at that price point. I’ve had no complaints so I’m sure you’ll enjoy 👍🏼

Thank you! Are you talking for staying at the lake? There’s a boat launch with camping spots a few miles north of the marina I believe!
