What an amazing backdrop to go and chase some of Australia’s most premier sports (and table) fish!! The islands out from Mackay have it all, and the pinnacle of the species on offer for lure fisherman on these offshore grounds are Red Emperor, Nannygai, Fingermark and Sweetlip… and this video has them all 👌🏻

That noisy braid was rather annoying. Some quality tucker & fun there boys.

Yeah I agree! It does cut through the water a lot better than the X8 braids but it’s very noisy through the microphone (not so bad in reality though) but I have just changed line to a new braid so if it’s good there won’t be much more of that 😂

Haha yeah don’t worry I nearly cried when I did it, it’s come back with a lot more greys so I’m scared to shave it again 😅😂

Howdy - sorry to bother ya on this. I’ve been looking through your past videos to find a gem of knowledge ya dropped. What size assist hook did you recommend for the squid-trex? Also, when drifting, what do you do with your outboard? You mention something in an older vid but I can’t find what the original. Nice one and keep the vids coming!

Hey mate, I run a BKK Diablo on the Squidtrex belly hook, the size depends on the lure but a on a 130 a 3/0 is spot on! The drifting stuff was on one of my original videos (and quite a few others) but it’s most detailed there. It’s slow pitch jigging for coral trout or something in the title.. ✌🏻

I have a couple of questions . Are poppers good for barra . What lures do recommend for barra .how to use lures😂 I mostly use bait and rarley use lures so can you give me some tips or lure suggestions P.s sorry for the long comment and great job on the video.

Haha all good mate! Yeah poppers work well in low light periods in barra! Go through the creek videos here and there are heaps of tips on lure selection including colours and profiles to suit the conditions on the day and you’ll see what retrieve I was using to get the bites… 👌🏻
