The small fishing village of Ine is located on the northern coast of Kyoto prefecture in Japan. Let’s take a tour of the complete village by bicycle.
Welcome to DIY Japan Travel. I'll try to show you places and things to do in Japan that are less touristy.
I want to explore the lesser known parts of Japan. The real Japan. Join me in the adventure!

A totally different experience to see it in 1080p. So much detail. 360p was the only option. I just re-watched it. Nice. I'll check back to see it in 4K.

That's a good idea! I should do it soon. It will have to be carefully planned and coordinated . Different places have different hour of operation/closing days lol

It’s a little far from the beaten path so it’s rather unknown still. No train service and limited buses going here.

Thank you so much for showing me the beauty of Ine and its funaya! Literally coast to coast of it! I’ll definitely go visit it next June. Now, I’ll have a much better idea of how to appreciate the whole of Ine; not on bike but on foot!

You live in such a beautiful place! Loving all the videos so far. Are the roads one way, they look so small, I would worry about meeting another car there? You should get the chap from Tokyo Llama to come and video your place!
@DIYJapan
@DIYJapan Жыл бұрын
The roads are two way lol It's very narrow and you have to cross other cars very slowly, there are only a few spots where it's impossible to cross each other and you have to backup. Maybe Llama is too big for a small guy like me lol And my house is far from finished lol

can you recommend a tour company that offers a bunch of different excursions and activities, that I can pick from? Like biking for a few days, or visiting rural onsen on another day. Instead of being with one group for the entire 14-16 days, know what I mean?
@DIYJapan

I think I know what you mean. I am not sure such tour companies exist. They tend to want to package it all in one group to maximize their profit. Why not try renting a car and touring the countryside yourself? Japan also has pretty great public transport. It's easy to get around by train and bus. Otherwise, you're kinda stuck doing what the package has planned for you without the choice of deviating from it.

How much are the houses on the water with the boat garage?
@DIYJapan
@DIYJapan 9 ай бұрын
It’s not really a matter of how much… people just won’t sell those, ever. They hold onto them from generation to generation. I know families that have three or four of them and no one living in them. They’ll never sell them either.

@@DIYJapan I was always fascinated by houses with a boathouse that you could come in and out of, such a rare thing to find, but very cool nonetheless.

It's interesting because the bay is so well protected from wave fluctuations. Even in typhoons. So, it's a unique spot.
@user-vs3zz3zi4s
@user-vs3zz3zi4s 9 ай бұрын
Yeah I think they are difficult to keep as the water levels are not constant, and some places I’ve heard they are grandfathered in, sounds like some jurisdictions do not want them / allow new boathouse builds.
@DIYJapan
@DIYJapan 9 ай бұрын
@@user-vs3zz3zi4s That's correct. Japan does not allow this type of construction anymore for fear of tsunami's and typhoons. These are historic now so they are allowed.
