one of the most effective lure for fishing is the rooster tail spinner. it comes in many different sizes and colors. in this video, I was trolling at hills creek reservoir with a 1/8 oz fire tiger rooster tail and a yellow bumble bee (not it's actual color but that's what it reminds me of).
we were trolling at about 1.2 MPH, which is what we normally troll at. we also trolled in a zig zag pattern to give the spinner more action.
I recommend having several different types of rooster tail spinners in your tackle box. they are very effective for many different species. focus on variety so you can have one for every situation.
thanks for watching.

They are great, for me the 1/6oz in yellow has been the best producer on trout, bass and crappie. Thanks for posting.

I'm amazed at the success of the rooster tail. I've never caught anything on one. My trolling rig that I used to use very successfully, was a small ( 3-4) inch salmon flasher, 6 inch leader, medium hook, with half a night crawler and a salmon egg right on the hook end. Tight lines !

Yea, they worked really well that day. 1/8 oz size was the ticket. Lost something a big at one point where it almost pulled my rod in.

When I was younger, a long time ago, a really long time ago, my fishing partner and I would hike into high lakes in the Cascades. We'd pick the ones with no trail, follow the outlet stream, maybe 6-8 hours of hiking thru the brush. Using the 4 piece Wright and McGill Trailmaster pack Rod and 1/4 oz gold and red Super Duper.sometimes skunked , mountain trout only feed every 3-4 days. But if one hit the right day, Jackpot. My partner was casting in this lake, fish on and 5-6 others chasing the lure in the hooked fish's mouth. Great fun ! I heartily recommend it to folks up to it.

🎣 When when it comes to trout fishing I only use the best there is & the best there will ever be & that is Berkley gulp 1 inch minnows + the color I use more than anything other color is(( chartreuse shad )). The Berkley gulp 1 inch minnows are 97% more effective than any other bait that's out there today on the market. Also when I use these Berkley gulp 1 inch minnows for trout fishing it's like Feeding Frenzy for trout & I also catch a lot of other different types of fish as well with these Berkley gulp 1 inch minnows. Fish loves the smell, fish loves color, and they love the action of these as well. When I use these for fishing doesn't matter what type of fish I use them for. I do catch 98% lot more and bigger fish. These truly do work there's one downside I do not like about these Berkley gulp 1 inch minnows. And here's the thing as many fish you catch with this little one inch minnows after a while the little rubber minnows will rip apart. The thing is there's nothing you can do about it I think there's about 25 or 30 comes in a little jar. Ever since I've been using these I've been catching fish like crazy and also when I use of these Berkley gulp 1 inch minnows fish bite hard and they will not let go there aggressive when it comes to these. And the other thing is not all the colors will work that's why I use the chartreuse shad more than any other color. Also they do work really well for crappies and perch as well. That's why I stock up on them. Totally nihilation Feeding Frenzy with these. So to those who do a lot of jigging I suggest that you use these the Berkley gulp 1 inch minnows and the color chartreuse shad. Yes they do work fantastic. I guarantee it you'll catch so many fish you probably will not know what to do with all of them once you catch them.

Try a Thomas Eel for trout fishing. It's a very under-rated, somewhat "secretive" lure for trout fishing any moving body of water. Rivers, streams, creeks, etc. Fantastic action. I rarely hear people talk about this lure. Whenever I'm fishing a public body of water and really laying into the trout, I always have someone ask me what I'm using because no one else is getting bites. When I show them the lure and tell them it's a thomas eel... very few know what it is, and many haven't even heard of it. 1/8th ounce always. Rainbows, Brookies and Browns will all put the smack into an eel. It's just a flashy spoon style bait. Nickel and Gold have worked best for me, but I've also caught them on the hot pink and chartreuse models. Thomas makes some great stuff. Their "special spinn" is one of the best spinners I've used as well... I put it right up there with Mepp's Aglias, Rooster Tails and Vibraxs.

What do you do about line twist when trolling rooster tails. I always tie mine directly onto the line so there is less for the trout to see and less to spook them, but I always find that after much trolling or cast-and-retrieve from shore, my line gets too twisted up. Maybe I'm trolling or retrieving too fast?
@oregonlife
@oregonlife 8 жыл бұрын
+Joseph Putnam never had too much trouble with line twist. we troll no more than 1.2 MPH, which doesn't put too much spin on the lure. also, about once every 5 trips, I let out the line behind the boat and reel it back in to straighten it. you can tie a swivel too, of course.
