Finally somebody who actually plays the various tones back-to-back so we can hear them in plain and simple! Best demo on this pedal out there. The one by Fishman is miserable (same applies for all their other AFX demos).

Which fishman are you using? I think it sounds very good. I have a d15 i took a matrix gold natural 1 out of and put a bband a2.2 in it. Im thinking of going back to the fishman or getting the new matrix blend with mic. Nice review. I changed because i heard local person use the b band but they are out of business. I have a k and k in an hd28.

It’s a really old version of their undersaddle. Natural I Matrix from about 2002. It has a nice bass boost built in for a smaller guitar and a punch that isn’t really in the new version, in my opinion. Appreciate you watching and glad you enjoyed. Would love to hear those pickups you have.

I agree Tom, pickup sounds wonderful, but i hear major compression and squash am i missing something?

It’s definitely pretty compressed. I tend to lean on that with a straight in recorded piezo. Helps it to my ears, but I may have gone too far lol

The piezo quack is horrible. Gotta fix that before futzing around with pedals

Have to disagree. I love the sound of that pickup. It’s not meant to recreate an actual mic’ed acoustic sound. None of them are. I’ve got some other setups (bridge plate pickups/mic emulations) I use when I want a more natural sound. Piezos aren’t perfect, but they are tough to match in most live situations that require punch, detail, and exaggerated bass.

I have to say (and you'll probably mock me for this but that's fair) that if I want a good acoustic tone from a pickup then my Acoustasonic or Fender Highway sound better than anything else I have. True, they don't sound nearly as good as a mic'd Martin or a true acoustic but when it comes time to plug in I think Fender has figured it out. I do want to try the Fishman Aura system, though, as those seem to sound good and, anyway, I think the modeling in those is similar to what I'm getting from the Acoustasonic. Okay, now feel free to laugh and mock me. It's okay. @@TomButwin

Plugging in an acoustic has always been a weird thing and, mostly, a failure. After all, what is the electric guitar but a miserable failure of an attempt to amplify acoustics back in the 1940s? I think we just need to rethink the plugged-in acoustic experience. It's very difficult to take an instrument like a traditional acoustic, plug it in, and not have either the feedback or the quack of a piezo. Which is why I think Fender is onto something here -- they realized that once you plug in you probably need a different instrument altogether if you're looking to get close to replicating the beauty and air of a traditional acoustic sound. And then there's Fishman's Aura system, which does work with traditional acoustics and, at least based on what I've heard of them, sound pretty good. But they beg the question of whether you even need that beautiful, expensive Martin once you plug in? I think the answer is that you don't. Which is why Fender has the right idea here, I believe. Anyway, this is just me rambling. I'll stop now.
