Pickups with close output and max gain may be hard to distinguish what Glenn fails to talk about it getting different frequency or broader ranges allowing you to get a unique sounds and really focus as a player or producer without having to constantly grab different gear for different sounds or simply put more options and better accuracy or clarity to your specific sounds with one pickup vs recording with 4 guitars

i really can't wait to try these things out! just to throw my two cents in, speaking about variance with sound in guitars. besides the fact that they just sound amazing and unique, for me personally, the beauty of Fishman's pickups is that they are all consistent. the greatness of the consistency, is that, with my 15 different(some extremely different, some a lot the same spec-wise) guitars with Fishman Fluence pickups, the variables in sound all come from the variances in the woods and hardware, which is really important. if you know the sound of your pickup, it allows you to predict what sort of guitar and it's combination of woods and hardware are gonna sound right, or to what you want the guitar to present in its voice. it also helps insanely with what sort of tone you're chasing with your amplifier and speakers. Fishman are truly changing the world for pickup technology in the best way possible, in my opinion.

@@djguzzy10 I know what Glenn is talking about. He is obsessed with speakers and he is right about how important they are to sound. That said Glenn is wrong completely about pickups. He gain matches their input before they go to the amp when he does his recording to make them sound similar so he can scream and call people stupid. Go right now and watch Kohle's video about his hapas guitar and listen to the very obvious difference in sound between 2 pickups and even the difference caused by raising and lowering the same pickup

Will we have a 7-string version of these pickups?
@Alphaaussiegaming
@Alphaaussiegaming 2 ай бұрын
Slipknot don’t use 7 strings bc there’s already so much going on in slipknot so I don’t see a reason for mick to want to Create something he has no use for…..is it a good idea sure but practical no not really nor necessary bc again it’s slipknot there’s already a lot going on and creating a 7-string version of his pickup would require a lot more time and effort that would be pretty useless bc mick doesn’t use those……he plays and uses stuff that add to the band so what’s the point in developing a 7-string version if it’s never gunna be used in slipknot????? Make sense you have a great idea and thought but it’s just not possible…….only reason I can see it becoming a thing is if enough people love the pickups to then say hey we love this sound can you give us a 7-string version but even that’s a long shot
@jessiepalermo7234

@patrickstephens956 Mick doesnt use 7 strings but he had a Seymour Duncan signature pickup for many many years and he had them in both 6 and 7 string configurations. The OP's question makes complete sense and it would be wise on Fishman's part to make a 7 string version cause they will sell very well just like Mick's 7 string Seymour Duncans.

The problem most people don't seem to grasp and why I think "Signature" pickups are kind of a bad idea is that people think they will get them THE TONE... Sure... if you also run through his setup as well. Unlike normal actives, Fishman's can EQ precisely.... Don't go buying them expecting them to sound perfect through your rig/settings
@evilplasticfork2330
@evilplasticfork2330 2 ай бұрын
It shows you don't play guitar very much. I can tell the difference between the sound of each pickups. Rig/settings make a difference. But pickups make more of a difference. Especially if a guitar just comes in stock pickups. I can tell one of my guitar stock pick ups sound low and my expensive guitar with signature pickups sound more louder and better :)
@clarkkotte3069
@clarkkotte3069 2 ай бұрын
Pickups do not make more of a difference. The speaker and cab is the single largest eq change as a speaker is a mechanical frequency filter. The amp has much more powerful ability to change eq as well. The pickup sets the input level, impedance, and the input eq, but this is very minimal. Its mostly noticed by the player through the feel of them.

@@evilplasticfork2330 I have a guitar with EMG81/85, Another with Fishman Moderns, Another with Lace Max Cavalera's "Downstroyers", Another with Ibanez Quantums, a 7 string with Mick's EMTY 7 set, and a guitar with a pickup from Guitar Fetish. Yes, they all have their characteristics and the EMG81/85 the most drastic. In the end though when Mixed in High Gain it matters very little as you're putting in post EQ to make the tone and sound fit within the mix. Signature Sets though help these artists in their rig and setup. SO WITH THAT, TELL ME I DON'T F'ING KNOW. I own both various sets of fishmans and bare knuckles both are awesome. I got to say though , as much as ive been a passive snob all my life and shitted on actives.. The fishmans really ruined other pickups for me ( even the bare knuckles). At first they're alarming to play ...because they're even MORE dynamic than passives which is wild its almost a culture shock. Some people dont like that " culture shock " I mentioned. But the more i played them and A,B the sounds, They grew on me extremely. They just have more of everything to put it simple. When i switch back to passives which ive played for 20 years .. I always find them lacking now especially in dynamics, the fishmans have made every other pickup feel bland, lifeless and stiff now. Ill only be buying fish mans going forward. Again its personal preference. Every guitar i own with fishmans are the most addictive ones to play.

Mick Thomson is a big dude and I feel like he lost way too much weight and muscle mass hopefully he’s healthy and doing fine, looks like he needs to eat some meat and put some mass back on.

Meh, No shade towards Fishman... but his 'tone' is some mid scoopy, fizzy, buzzy jank nonsense. Tone and articulation do not matter when you are going through a fizzed out omega amp into some vintage 30s.
