I remember the first time MD went to the shop to pick up fish and Matt made his first camera appearance and ever since then I've been following Matt and seeing what he's doing as I've always said to myself after that first appearance he would make a great fish channel having worked in a fish shop for years

I get it man! I worked for one of my best friends for 6 years and it broke my heart having to tell him I was going out on my own to pursue a different venture. It had to be done for me to progress in the field I wanted to go into and provide for my family. He totally understood and we're still good friends. At the end of the day you have to do whats best for you and yours!

Grow the industry... Its working. Because of you two I am now back into the hobby. No joke! Your channels are what sparked my interest. I have just completed week one of my brand new tank cycling. 40 gallon tank, stand, filter, substrate, hardscape, plants, the entire setup because you two lit my fire! I wish I had a way to share a photo of my build, I'm quite proud! It turned out very nice thanks to the tips and tricks I learned from you both. Thank you! Cant wait to get fish! You guys are totally different people and that’s a GREAT thing. People in your life should want you to succeed just as much if not more than them if they truly care, now saying that you can see right off the bat the reason you both are doing it is different, his is 1st money for his family yours 1st is so more and more people will get into the hobby. There is nothing wrong with either ones reasoning. The amount of people that wanted You to start your own channel was crazy awesome ……….. me being one of them. The next thing is I have not watched one of your videos that I haven’t liked, you may think they are very similar but the way you handle your channel / videos keeps us locked in. It’s YOU Matt that we enjoy just as much as you info. You definitely offer something different, and there is a big difference between yalls channels. There is something about the way you talk and explain things that has me locked in too. You guys didn’t need to explain anything to anyone. Loved this video, was so enjoyable to watch you two guys chatting. I had no doubt that there wasn't anything wrong between you. I totally understand how exhausting it can be, like trying to burn a candle at both ends, my mom used to say! I for one, am terrible when I don't get enough sleep. I'm very grumpy, and that's just at home with family. I can't imagine how hard it would be to try and maintain a good attitude for the camera. Anyway, it's obvious how close you two have become, and it's great to see. I'm happy for you to be able to concentrate more on your own channel, and I can see how pleased MD is for you, as well. I love both of your channels, and I believe they both have a very important place here on KZfaq. Thank you both for this video, it was fun to see you guys together again, even for a little while. And I'm sure you will get together again, now and then. In the meantime, I plan on enjoying both MD's and you, Matt's channels!

Firstly, I absolutely love both your channel and MD’s channel… the way you both worked together on MD’s channel, was fantastic.. but we all knew it was temporary until you got your own thing up and running.. you both make amazing content!!! I love you guy’s friendship! You’re both knowledgeable and skilled but also hilarious and entertaining to watch both individually and together. I never wanted to have an aquarium but I build terrariums and vivariums so my interest started with plants and MD made growing the plants feel accessible so I gave it a try. Quickly moved on to snails and shrimp and now because of Matt, I’m going to be getting my first fish in the next few weeks. Thank you both for making the hobby feel accessible. Even to people like myself who never imagined they’d even want an aquarium 😂

I love watching both of you. Separately and together. A few years ago, during peak Covid madness, I was pregnant and working from home and decided for some reason, I needed a betta. So, I started with a betta and a 10 gallon, minimally planted tank. When I was up at all hours with the baby, etc, I started watching MD and boom, I was hooked and thought, I will get a bigger tank and get into plants someday. I still have the betta but he has more plants and I have a 40 gal breeder, with many plants and I love it. I will for sure have more in the future. My husband thinks I've lost it a bit, I think, but that's ok! Thank you for your inspiring videos.

I would love to see the two of you work together in a much larger gallery where you both have your own separate areas but still help each other. I believe that would take you both further in this industry especially with most people nowadays having such a short attention span. Like with me for instance the videos that md had you in I could always sit and watch the whole video which is hard for me when listing to only 1 person talk. Videos with you two felt so natural. No matter what happens I wish you well

Both of you encouraged me to get plants in my aquarium. I dont have a CO² filter, no plant media, or root tabs, I started with a piece of bogwood with a plant on it from Pets At Home and some mossballs, and the water clarity was astounding a day later. I planted more plants into the gravel, and they've grown fantastically. I absolutely love the look of them, they're growing fantastically. I only had an issue with my fish literally uprooting half my plants every hour, but i left it for a week in care of my nan, and I came back with half of them floating and literally growing roots from everywhere they could. I am happy to be getting rid of my fake plants, which are starting to look a little worn out now.

I love this video from America! I love both of you and I love your friendship! I learn so much from both of you, different things. You each teach me in different ways, and I’m a “father fish” guy!! I watch MD for scaping and you for your knowledge of each fish breed. I have had total success with you guys, father fish, and “Phillips Fish Works “ scuds and micro macro fauna. I have dirted, sand capped, heavy planted, tannins, etc tanks (9). I never test my well/river water and I’m one year into this and have never lost a fish, shrimp, etc. You 4 guys are the best!!! I also love “Tiny Menagerie “ her voice and videos are awesome!! Just wish she wouldn’t go so long between videos ❤️❤️

Im a horticulturist and have never used co2.. my tanks are set up similar to MD (actually more like father fish's tanks, very natural)..my plants grow like MD's do. I love both of you; I learn a lot from you both. And i love when you 2 do videos together, because you 2 have a great chemistry. Thanks Matt and MD!

Me too! I suspect that anaerobic decomposition of organic matter in our style of deep "dirty" substrate produces tiny amounts of co2 that leaches into the water the same way it does in nature.

@@Heterogeneity Oh wow so this is it. From time to time I see bubles getting out of the substrate and I always assumed for some reason that it must be oxygen but now I realise it must be in fact CO2 from organic decomposition. Thanks for the tip!

🤜🤛 Good job adressing things and you two are awesome! Maybe you two can get a studio together one day when you run out if toom for your tanks and every now and then do videos together but separate split the cost of the studio idk but im glad you bith put the rumors to rest. You both do great jobs and work well together and separately and honestly some sort of separation (as far as channels) would keep you two individuals instead of the thoughts of md and matt "channel" because he did indeed work hard on his channel and i think it was turning into a you and md channel as far as perception on some kind of level, just my opinion, and we should all know eventually MD was gonna strip the tanks down and do something different lol thats his style. We well i still have to watch for more time to get a full idea or feel of what you style is in the long run like to be able to say well youre foing to do this bevause thats you like we can say MD going to strio the tank and do something different if that makes sense. Im rambling but good job is the basics

The horticulturalist is right, you can't grow plants like that without diffused CO2. What they're forgetting, is that if your nutrient mass and bacterial colony is balanced correctly, the byproduct of aerobic bacterial respiration is??? Soluble CO2. The byproduct of organic matter breakdown??? Volatile gasses and.... soluble CO2. If you use good substrate and care for your bacteria, there will be plenty of soluble CO2 available to support good plant growth.

I only had the courage to start a tank because of you and the belief you encouraged that I could do it. I’ve been following this channel for a long time I’ve used so many of MD’s brilliant ideas when I was starting my tanks in a middle of a pandemic. I'm a horticulturalist that worked at a botanical garden and I have 2 all low tech planted tanks looking lush and I can confirm it's definitely possible even with our rock hard water! Keep up the good work boys!

I had an aquarium with Goldfish first and because of you Guys its now a Nice guppy tank for the kids with Lots of plants that dont die! I follow both of you and you two know alot and are funny doing the hobby.. thank you 😊
