*Lets make camp*
My review of the Fiskars X10 'carpenters' axe.
It is a lightweight, well balanced chopping axe ideally suited for make camp or general household usage.
Made in Finland.
Price £32

I have a felling axe from Fiskars. It's not a splitti g axe... But I use it as a splitting axe. In the last 15 years.... Still going strong.

Good review. It seems like a really decent axe, and not too bad for that price really (if you want to go for a premium brand). I get what you say at the beginning. I still can't believe you've been able to keep the output you have so far. What with all the knives and axes, plus Warhammer (Which is far from cheap), AND the new bike! They are much appreciated though. I lost my UKPK the other weekend, and I replaced it with a Spy-DK based on your recommendation.

Well thank you freemind62 I really appreciate what you say. I know the majority of you guys enjoy the content I put out that you're interested in and I have always welcomed suggestions and feedback to try and improve the channel. Sad to hear that your ukpk went missing but glad you picked up a spy-dk. How are you finding it? Btw it's replaced my ukpk for edc.

***** I've only had it for around a week, and so far it's been great. I do miss the one handed opening and I've had a problem trying to swap the clip to left hand carry (I've given up for fear of breaking it), but it's a great little knife. Seems to cut boxes better than the UKPK did, and is slimmer in the pocket. Also I love the orange colour.

freemind62 Haha now don't get me started on the colour orange, it's got a lot to answer for! Pleased that you're enjoying it as much as I am. The steel is very excellent and after more experience with it I would recommend it over the ukpk just based on that steel. It seems to suit the shape of the blade much more than the Squeak or Pingo ever did.

Nice vid. I think that might do well paired with a Mora or Hulatafors knife. It always makes me laugh when I see idiots complaining about vids that they get for free (well, ok, if it's something truly offensive, that would be fair enough) or if it's about something they are not interested in. They seem to think that in some way they are in charge of the person making the vids, and that that person should damn near bankrupt themselves buying stuff.

Yeah I agree with what you're saying. I mean if it was my permanent job then I would kinda see their point. However I try to put out what I can when I can and I have to appeal to viewers that also have access to other more popular KZfaqrs that do this stuff for a living. This is not a complaint by any means as I love the community and the chance to put content out there but you are right. There are a small minority that need a reality check once in a while and a reset on their expectations. If it was my full time job, if I was paid to do this and if I got sent things for free to review then my channel might fall in line with their expectations now and again.

I'm not too much interested in axes, motorbikes and world of wacraft-stuff, but I like your knife reviews. So whats your paypal-account?

I appreciate your kind comment friend and have spent some time thinking about it. I have decided to take the necessary steps to make contributions to my channel a possibility. Any funds generated will solely go towards knife purchases only. That way I can keep making regular knife videos.

Hi! I've got me the X5 several weeks ago. And know I wonder whether it was the wrong decision... Cheerio, Claus

Oh no. It really depends on what you will use it for. The X5 is more than capable for camp/shelter work. You can't go wrong with either friend. The X10 just gives you a little more reach.

Good for bushcraft and carving?

Yes but depending if you have a weight limit the X5 is also a great bushcraft axe.

So what happens if the handle breaks. Can you get a replacement?
@Sup3rSaiy3n
@Sup3rSaiy3n 8 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan Cover Yes. Usually the same warranty most manufacturers offer: www.fiskars.co.uk/support/faqs

+Sup3rSaiy3n That was my fear. There is no way to replace the handle. It means that this axe only lasts as long as the handle. I've got an x27. I'd better be super careful splitting wood. Yikes. I wish I'd thought of that sooner. Instead of a 10 dollar handle it's another 60 dollar axe.

+Jonathan Cover Nothing to fear. So long as you use the axe appropriately it won't break. Fiskars are a pretty decent company founded in 1649. The guarantee covers defects from workmanship and/or materials. If you break the axe it's your fault, why should any company pick up the bill. If you use it the correct way there's no reason for it to fail. If you choose to use an axe in more unorthodox ways and need the ability to replace parts you have a choice. I wouldn't feel comfortable with unforeseen circumstances that could arise from using an axe I repaired myself.

+Sup3rSaiy3n I guess we're all different. I wouldn't expect the company to pick up the bill. However, things happen, and it would be nice to replace the handle instead of the whole ax. The axe design doesn't allow for that. Before this axe, I had an axe from Lowes and it stuck a lot in the wood. Just pulling the ax out of the wood I splintered the handle. I trust this handle will be stronger since the axe cost twice as much. :)

Jonathan Cover If you manage to brake Fiskars handle, you get a replacement. They don’t really ask what happened to it, I have same experience with Leatherman. But if you manage to brake Fiskars, you’re doing something wrong. I’ve had Fiskars axes since 1992 and everyone of them works just as well as when they were new. But I have managed to break couple axes with wooden handle.
