Fitting a Tent Flashing Kit - HOW TO DIY?

We show you how install a stove with a tent flashing kit. This is a Frontier Stove 45 degree flashing kit made of heat proof silicone which can withstand temperatures of up to 300 degrees. We are installing the Outbacker Eco Burn stove in our canvas bell tent.
This tent flashing kit is for use with the Frontier or Outbacker stoves in fire retardant canvas shelters such as Canvas Bell tents, Tipis or Yurts. It also comes with a pre cut 60mm hole, but it also has a cut line to accommodate 4" Traveller stoves.

Very helpful to see that canvas doesn’t need sealing where cut, and that you don’t need a heatproof section stitched to the tent as some websites show. 🙌

Fantastic job! Bit of advice, cut the screw holes first and mount it, then you can use the straight blade and cut the center out using the flashing as a guide.

Thank you, I am yet to do this. Will probably film it when I do. Thankfully I have a bell tent with the hole already cut, saves me that horrible moment of cutting into my beloved canvas!

It would have been easier to mark the holes and fit the flanges first, then cut the inner hole, which would also be safer than potentially ripping the canvas too far.

How big is the hole of the stove where you put the wood in. Not the door only the hole for the wood? Thanks

So! Block your exit with your stove? Keep a knife handy to cut a back door!

@@GeniusTravels Thanks for your time. Sorry noob question but do you have to take off the flashing kit each time you pack it away. Just wondering since i live in Australia and won't need a heater/stove most of the time.

@@timrossingtonmusic Hi again Tim, it's probably best to take it off each time unless the bolts on the flashing kit can cause damage to your canvas while in transit. Our next project is to make one of these to protect the canvas everytime we put the stove in.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jLZng7eGnpivdoU.html If you live in somewhere hot like Aus and most of the time won't be using it installing a flap like this will be good to cover the hole during the summer months. Hi, what size tent it that, I'm guessing 4m. I'm asking because I have a 3m I'm considering fitting a stove to and wanted to know if you had any issues with yours.

Our was a 4m, a 3m should be fine but just be cautious as it does take up alot of space so you might not get as many people in. Hope this helps
