I mean, formats will continue to be aggressive and fast/fastish so long as we keep getting "You just can't play Wind Drake stats these days because it's not good enough on curve". I mean, if they make lower mana creatures with higher stats, they really need to push a lot of other things to make sure grindier decks can work.

I've noticed that combat tricks are a lot better than usual, since they let your facedowns kill opponents facedowns without triggering ward

One thing I notices, Chalk outline, Insidious roots and UR grindy artifact engine decks are all overdrafted currently, cuz everyone wants to try a cool buildaround he opened, so a lot of people try to force them, and also we still havent learned what good versions of those decks look like

if people choose to be excited about 4 mana do-literally-nothings, that's fine. What I'm asking is: How does this affect you even remotely?

Yeah the creatures specifically having to leave is a weird confusion with collect evidence. Had an incredibly synergistic deck and managed to get one win due to three rubblebelt mavericks leaving my graveyard with chalk outline. Felt like way more work for the oayoffs

One of most miserable limited experiences for a while. Most of my drafts have been full of exciting interactions, possible combos and regular bombs, only to go 0-3 and 1-3.

This has been the most apathetic release I've seen yet. The amount of games that end because someone's just done and concedes has been far too high

There is one extra source of fixing you might have forgotten in the disguise land. Honestly just that is is essentially a land or creature depending on what you need makes it a good card.

I think it's important to make the distinction, though, that Branch of Vitu Ghazi helps splash and not fix. It's a one time burst that doesn't come until turn 4. It also kills your turn 3 development if you're immediately using it for a missing color. It's great to cast your 6 drop bomb turn 5 that you splashed for. It's awful if you have a handful of red two drops, forests and Vitu

@@derekcline950 true i thought abut it more for splashing purposes in the first place, that said as it only works once it´s proaly worse than im thinking for that purpose

I agree that you need to add to the board early but in general I’m having games go pretty long

yeah also feels like a value oriented format to me i.e. not really grindy where stuff trades all the time. You try to get value out of your morphs if not cast face-up (often a viable option) and your clues.

Iam like 15 drafts in at 60% winrate in mythic and I think green in goated. Green allows you to force splashing. And there are enough lifelinkers to stabilize on turn 4 even 2/1 flyer that gives lifelink. The only thing that gets me sometimes is random early bombs. The anthem that deals 1 for example. I mean you can play those graveyard payoffs trigger the turn they come down pretty easy.

Just did my first draft and went mono green, went home 2-1 with match scores 2-1, 2-0, 1-2. It was pretty stupid but pretty fun.

Aggro is definitely assertive but it does fizzle out if it doesnt have cards that have burn or board pumps. It can definitely punish the 3 mana 2/2 if thats all they do, which i was worried about when i was looking at the set. Plus sealed vs draft is a huge thing that ive noticed people dont really think about.

Aggro decks don't fizzle late game like they used to. 1 drops have legit mana sinks, engines come on a lot of creatures and creatures are just better than they used to be

Sadly enough, a lot of decks can punish you for playing a slow 3 mana 2/2. But there are still some control-ish decks that can make it work. Had a really good score with a rakdos midrange and a dimir control deck, but white still looks much better than those. Interested in how it plays out in the long run though Though my biggest problem is with the new boosters, i just haven't warmed up to the low rates of commons yet. Even though there are more rares, it just really doesn't get you as deep in some colors, especially sealed

not to mention in draft you have less picks before you get locked in, so you have less time to pivot.

Chalk outline and Insidious roost are amazing if the deck is open, if you've to compete for most of the good cards it won't work but if it's open it's really good. I had a 7-0 draft yesterday with two copies each of chalk outline and insidious roost. For this deck the cycling 6 drop it's insane and the maverick aswell

@@47Mortuus If it's open you may be able to afford to lose a turn because you'll end up way ahead in the long run. It's a slow deck but if you survive the early stages of the game you'll be well positioned to win it. Value your picks knowing you're a slow deck and only draft it if it's open, but if it is it's a good deck

@@jordigasulla7523 In gold tier maybe. I'd rather play blue tempo and have 5 clues on turn 6. You can collect evidence in those decks too.

Just went 3-0 with a gross 5-color pile. Tbf, it was some people's first time drafting and I got lucky. Still, playing a pile of removal and fixing and bombs did work.

I've been enjoying this format. Ward 2 plays kinda weird with morphs. And I think having lands that tap for any color make morphs harder to sus out, which isn't great.

I lost my trophy game last night to turn four Yarus turn 5 arelia because I was on the draw. Kinda funny but like what can I do lol

Arena's "blocker shuffle" meant I timed out as I had to check what each card was repeatedly returning a complex block where I was planning on flipping up 2 of 4 cards -

Knowing we were getting the return of morph in this format, I was not excited. Didn't enjoy it in Khans of Tarkir. It has performed better here but I still don't enjoy playing a 3 mana 2/2 and not knowing what my opponent has on board. Attacking into morph creatures is just so risky, it makes me want to avoid doing that, which slows the game down. Really need format knowledge to know what morphs to play around based on what mana the opponent has up.

I’ve been getting very unlucky so far, I drafted 3 Teysa’s in the same deck and only managed to play her 1 time in 6 games. Also I drafted Rakdos and had a game where I drew all 17 lands and had 10 cards left in deck…

Morph-like cards(disguse, etc.) have always kind of confused me since I quit playing the game for a long time right after morph was introduced. Couldn't someone(I know this would be impossible on Arena) with a forest in their hand just say that it's a disguised card, even though it obviously isn't?

Well, if you kill the morph and it turns out to be forest, you can call your opponent out for cheating

You're supposed to reveal all face down cards at the end of every game to avoid that.

I've found that drafting this format is discouraging 😢 After about 10 or so drafts, the BEST I've done is 3-3. That's sad. Even in LCI, I had several go through all 6 wins. There's zero consistency in the gameplay even when I draft a solid deck. Sometimes I'll just crush, then next game I'm just flattened without having done anything. Maybe I'll have to sit out on this Limited format. I'm apparently absolute garbage at playing it 🤷‍♂️ So frustrating when it looks like it should be fun.

Disguise just make things into coin tosses. The amount of blowouts just because I removed the wrong one when several is on the board is staggering

Draft Boros. WOTC has a systemic design problem at this point where aggro is the best thing you can be doing in limited. Just curve out 1 2 3 and you will mop almost everyone.

That's not a WOTC thing that's just a card game thing. Of course it'll always be better to use all your resources on every turn; why wait till turn 3 to play the game when I can start on 1?

@@r4v4g3r Aggro is easy to put together. Other decks need specific pieces in specific ratios.

What ive bewn doing, had no rares n still went 2-1, if i hit my 6th land on the game i lost I would of won that round too, not really my problem persay just got hosed as we all do, so yeah always go boros

I found this format to be giga-boring to be completely honest. I won my local prerelease with Orzhov and didn't have an inch of fun.

Went 6-3 and 2-3. The disguise creatures are a problem. It's like your removal is hot garbage. And I guess who ever drafts the most disguise creature wins?
