Something about the Mugen 5 really screamed shogun to me... one of the gates at Nijo-jo in Kyoto has round protruding studs (in gold though) that perhaps inspired Scythe’s designers. It is a Japanese based company after all!

Just picked up a 5600x and boy am I glad I found this video. Subbed because: -Clear testing methodology and useful resulting data. There are way too many videos on this topic that don't lock vcore and frequency, casually leave PB2 to its own devices, and leave it to the viewer to make sense of the resulting mess. -You included the stock cooler and the Noctua for comparison - very useful data for the target audience. -Excellent production and you have a natural presentation style. Keep up the great work!

I have been using a Hyper 212 since at least 2009-2010 and I kept the exact same one on my Sandy Bridge system until I replaced that computer in March of 2020, where I used another Hyper 212 black edition. These coolers are great bang for buck and thermals are uneventfully decent. You have a great channel man I really appreciate the effort that goes into your content. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the great video.I recently finished my new PC build and I bought a Noctua NH-D9L cpu cooler and I can't say that I am pleased with the performance on my AMD Ryzen 5 3600X.It was my mistake to buy a low profile cpu cooler because my new PC build is all in a Rosewill glow full tower. My new PC build consists of a Gigabyte B550 pro AC mainboard with wifi,an XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS XXX with 8gb of ram dual bios graphics card,16gbs of Corsair vengeance LPX DDR4 3200Mhz and a SeaSonic Focus GX-850 80+ full modular gold PSU.I just ordered the ID-COOLING SE-224-XT Black CPU Cooler for my new PC build.Thank you again for the great video,God bless you and your family.

I had the Arctic sports e34 duo leftover from my AMD Ryzen 5 1600 build... After hearing it can go with my new Ryzen 5 5600x I installed it in my new Antec DF700 case...the case came with 3 Argb fans, 1 classic fan and 1 reverse fan... I got Arctic's p12 pwm argb value pack case fans since a youtube recommended them as a great upgrade for the bionix fans on the e34 (lower noise, can go 0db if needed) ... My case now has 3 Arctic argb p12 intake fans on the front (which are crispy quiet around 30db at 20% even tho the DF700 has a mesh front and you can hear the air and buzzing more than a glass front), 1 Arctic argb p12 on the tower cooler in push config, 1 bionix e34 as pull, another one behind it as an exhaust fan on the case, 2 argb antec fans on the PSU shroud for extra GPU cooling (but mostly for argb), 1 argb antec fans as top exhaust and the last antec reverse fan is fitted on top of the case before the e34.... My system is idle at 52-55°C with a constant 144mhz refresh rate, medium load around 60-62°C at fan speed 25% and heavy load at 63-68°C at max 40% fan spees (so that's like 900rpm)... My db of the system = 40db (measured on the front mesh) , gpu RTX 3070 fans don't even come on until I start gaming, at idle it's 39°C at heavy load 46°C...and the VRM are at 38°C max... I love my config, I've never had a quieter and cooler PC...love Arctic 👍

Thanks for the video. I'll be getting my 5600x in the coming weeks so it always helps to get more info about the possible cooling options. I probably be using the 5600x with it's stock cooler at first, but then maybe buying a new cooler for it. Seems like that ID-Cooling SE-224-XT isn't available in Finland at the moment, but maybe I'll just go with the Arctic Freezer 34 Esports (single or Duo).

I had the ID-Cooling cooler in my last build on a Ryzen 5 1600AF. I bought a 5 pack of Arctic P12 fans for $30 at the time and set up with two intake, one exhaust, and the last two in push-pull on the ID-Cooling cooler. The CPU stayed at steady 4.2 GHz, the temps never pushed past about 65 C, AND it was nearly silent. The ID-Cooling cooler is definitely a good buy!

Sweet, thanks for the feedback. Haven’t tested with an Intel chip but I’m convinced the Ryzen die position has a big part to play here. Otherwise four heat pipes has no business being that close to seven and larger mass.

Just replaced the Mugen 5 on my 5600x with a SE-224-XT. Massive difference in temperature. I've put the two Sickleflow fans which came with the case (did not use 'm) as push, pull .. and even staying at 650rpm they cool enough the get a mild overclock running very cool when on full load. Planning to replace the Sickleflow for NF-F12 Chromax .. for added silence cause the Sickleflow hum a little.

Great video. Just a small info / suggestion.. I have an old Gammaxx 400 which surpassed evo 212 with the stock fan in my testing, it's now paired with a beefier and powerful server grade fan that can spin max 4000 rpm (Nidec ta450dc). Yes it does get loud but the air flow is massive that it does not even have to go beyond 3k rpm to de-throne some of the AIO temps. I thought it would be interesting to see such a modding. Quick note.. at lower RPMs like below 1800 the push config works well,, but anything above that Pull works better :)

Bit late but I've always been a preacher for the hyper 212 evo cooler for its price/performance. It's been a standard install for every build I've done in the last 12 or so years, until I went AIO. A comparison of CPU coolers using their provided fan(s) and TIM makes a lot of sense, especially at a lower price point. However, a follow-up comparison that involves the same fan and TIM would also be useful to isolate the performance difference between the cooler designs (find, heatpipes, and base plate). Replacing both items involves extra cost so for the fan the Arctic P120 would be a good choice. For the TIM, Noctua's NT-H1 (or the newer NT-H2) may be appropriate. Finally, in a "cost is no option" scenario, consider the Noctua NF-A12x25 fan and Thermal Grizzly's Kryonaut thermal compound.

@@MachinesMore I really enjoy my fuma 2 for my 5600x. I have a b550 tomahawk. Running prime-Peak 58c non pbo; Peak 78c with pbo

I got the BeQuiet Pure Rock 1 and the 5600x. I'm using a very well ventilated case (corsair 4000D airflow with lots of 120mm fans) and only running the 5600x at stock speeds. With an ambient temperature of the high teens C it only reaches 50C under load (Prime95).

Thanks for the video! I'm glad to know that Pure Rock 2 does fit in NR200P! Temps are decent for the price. I might wait for the U12A Chromax version to get the performance and aesthetic that I want with the mesh panel. I'll save the TG panel if I decided to liquid cool my NR200P in the future.

In terms of fit and finish it was really good, fan was very high quality also. The U12A Chromax is due next year so will take a look then, it really depends on what you're cooling now, I personally don't think the U12A adds enough value over the lower priced coolers for Ryzen 5.

@@MachinesMore I have a stock Ryzen 7, do you think it's worth going for U12A? Or am I better off getting a budget cooler like Pure Rock 2?

@@MachinesMore Great video! Love all your testing with the NR200. How tight of a fit was the Pure Rock 2 with the TG panel? I was considering the Mugen 5, but the black version isn't available in Canada.

Aesthetic and mesh panel don't really go well together 😁

I've got the Mugen 5 on a R5-3600 and found it performs quite a bit better with the Scythe slim fan pulling on the back side along with the included fan which can't run fast enough but as you've found a stronger fan can't blow much more air through the cooler anyhow. The added fan pulling air does increase the heat shedding capacity and along with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut thermal metal it does a fine job without making enough noise to detect. This is on a 75-80 watt CPU and it'll stay under 65C no matter what...but the higher output CPU's on the market might need more cooler to stay at decent temps. The stock AMD cooler would let the temps get to high 80's...which AMD says is OK...but too hot for me and long term stability would suffer I fear if it was run that hot for extended periods. Good review!
