I've seen bakhara stitch in stitch tutorial books but never actually worked out how to do it. It's always described as being such a difficult stitch to master. Now I know that actually it's very straightforward. In advance of being able to start my Certificate course again I'm going to be making myself a sampler of the 6 required stitches and about the same again of the optional ones. The sampler will then go one to show every stitch I use or need in all 4 techniques. Your extremely clear teaching and worked examples of each one is going to be a tremendous help, especially when I have to use stitches I'm not sure about. Ginger cat definitely believes his 'bath Tim's is right in the middle of your demonstrations. If he were a girl, I'd call him a bit of a diva. It's always lovely to see both him and Pinky.

Before seeing this, I'd have thought the block shading was blocks of satin stitch so clearly there's some distinction I'm missing. I'm pretty sure I remember hearing a bit at the start in which you said you'd explain later why satin stitch was best worked diagonally, but I was interrupted a few times while watching the video, so now I'm thinking I must have missed it.

@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery2 жыл бұрын
I think you will have to do this in your hand Debbie if you want to stitch straight onto the cap, otherwise make it as a patch then sew the patch on. I suggest the latter and practicing a small piece of embroidery first!

The 'popping' noise serves a purpose Erin! It helps you to know what sort of noise you should be expecting to hear; pops are good, it means you have the right needle/thread combo. Any other noise is not good as it means you have the wrong combo and you need to change something about the way you are stitching!
