@@MrGreenelight Not in towing and ground clearance. And AWD minivans are hard to get ahold of. The Grand Highlander and Traverse come close in passenger space as well. Cargo space is much less since the seats don't fold into the floor but still a lot of space.
@MrGreenelight10 ай бұрын
@@plmn93 I agree, with the ground clearance as a whole, the fact is that most so called SUV's are not SUV at all, they are hatch backs, and cross overs built an car frames not trucks. Also, even true SUV hardly utilize the high ground clearance or ever go off road, they never see more than a speed bump in a nice neighborhood or grocery store parking lot..so the ground clearance is just lost usable space. Mini vans have seats that fold down, into the floor and/ or are completely removable, not to mentions safer (crash testing lower center of gravity less likely to roll over and , more aerodynamic/ fuel efficient, sliding doors, and depending on the engine can tow as much. as SUV,; mabye not as much as pick up trucks, but as much as SUV's.
@plmn9310 ай бұрын
@@MrGreenelight Minivans max out at 3500 pounds towing, while most SUVs are 5000+. That's the difference between a small pop up and a real travel trailer. None of these are doing real off roading, but that extra clearance can make a big difference in snow. We've owned both. The space in the vans was nice when the kids were little, but we much prefer the extra capability now. And, the SUVs drive nicer and handle heavy loads better. Every vehicle has compromises, vans are no different.

true that, I am a a single guy with no kids and I have own two, minivans. I prefer function over fashion. The mini van is the most versatile vehicle one can get, they are good at everything. I bought an SUV recently only because I was in a bind, and couldn't hind a mini van in the condition or under 200K mile for sale or price range for me . Yes, mini vans are also high mileage vehicles. they are work horses.

@@brokeboy87 The first mini van owned was called an APV, ( All Purpose Vehicle) It was a 1996 Chevy Lumina APV, .Even though it was my personal vehicle. The staff at my job often wanted/ asked to use it for group trips meeting / outings and emergency deliveries/ shipments to our customer. The rear seat folded down, they were also reconfigurable to any arrangement and completely removable. People use to laugh at me because I had a mini van, then call me a few weeks later asking me to do something for them with it that their car or SUV couldn't.
