Thanks, doc. The Philippines and the US will always have a relationship, especially now that October is congressionally recognized as Filipino-American History Month here in the US, and the history of the Philippines is also American History.

Your 13a is on a 1 year probation period. If you comply the you get a 5 year 13a, and this is renewable every 5 years. Whilst it gives you permanent residency it has to be renewed every 5 years. Also remember to go to immigration every year between 1 Jan and 31 March to submit your annual report.

I heard that if you are there for less than 30 days that you don't need a tourist Visa. If I am wrong can someone verify this? Also its true that the Philippines have always been a great ally for the U.S. I served alongside many Filipinos during my 20 year military service and they were among the most reliable, intelligent members I had the pleasure of working with.

Four months late, but I'll answer since no one else has. Tourists from the US are "Visa On Arrival". You arrive in the Philippines and are automatically given a 30 day tourist visa.

Many Americans have found it to be very desirable compared to a lot of other places. -- Retirement there seems highly desirable in my view - if - you can handle the heat and humidity. -- Low costs of living - that can be as low as 70% less than the US depending on location ! -- Friendly people that mostly speak English make life easy for many expats. -- Survival stories on very low incomes are all over U-Tube videos. Others live "like a King" compared to where they came from on $3,000 or more/month. -?- WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ???

Philippines has largest of all American overseas military cemeteries, occupying over 150 acres on a prominent plateau with a breathtaking view of the Manila skyline. Here rest more than 17,000 American servicemen and women. It is located in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, Metro Manila, within the boundaries of the former Fort William McKinley.

I'm in my first 6-month tourist visa extension. I'm eligible for the 13(A), but going to Manila to apply for it is not going to be fun. Is there a better way? Right now I take the bus from Tagaytay to Dasma (about a 90 minute trip)

Thailand has become crazy on immigration with Tourist stuff the last year or so. Sad because during Covid they were granting amnesty extensions easy. I knew people that stayed for 18 months on the amnesty program. Lines and wait times are also better here I think.

Philippines is not the land of opportunity for foreigners to invest or settle Foreigners can't own lands in PH & can only own 40% of any PH business or corporations if the main Fil. owner allows it Foreigners can obtain PH citizenship if born & raised in PH like the prominent Spanish Ayala family which I don't think is your case Doctor Laway you're a fool to settle in PH

I'll be "semi-retiring" in Davao City 4/2024, and with my 13,000,000 Pesos in savings and 280,000 Pesos in monthly income, P.I. certainly IS a good place to settle; I'll live VERY well and still save 180,000 Pesos every month. I do agree that investing there is not a good idea, and I won't be building/buying a house or condo - BUT who needs to when rent is so cheap ?

You have not research enough. Foreigners do get citizenship in the Philippines. Long term residents like Eastern Indians and most recently a Canadian and a Syrian both great humanitarians are recently accepted into Pilipino citizenship. There were others before them.
@josepanicucci8591
@josepanicucci8591 9 ай бұрын
@@budolbes1317Yes foreigners can obtain PH citizenship if born & raised in PH or if one of their parents is a Fil. Kulas a Canadian vlogger is an exception he was granted PH citizenship because powerful PH politicians liked his vlogs If you don't believe the facts I've stated about PH you can ask a PH lawyer or the PH Bureau of Immigration about it instead of your relying on hearsays I personally know an Italian engineer in PH since the 1970's married to a Fil. & still was denied PH citizenship he was arrested & almost deported
