I just looked it up. As it stands now (and I don't think this law was different in 1993), someone who is in the US on a non-immigrant visa cannot legally buy or possess a gun unless he meets a few very narrow restrictions (such as having come to the US specifically for hunting and has a hunting permit or being a law enforcement officer of a friendly foreign government). Applying for asylum doesn't change this. Being granted asylum does.

Pakistan has been playing this double standard game for ages. But they DID have surveillance on the house. That's how they finally got in contact with the roommate. They couldn't have him under surveillance prior to that because they didn't have probable cause for a warrant. At that point they didn't have any proof that Mir was guilty or even a suspect. He was a person of interest only because he had purchased a firearm that matched the weapon used. If you remember there were over one thousand of those same firearms sold in that area in the previous year. That means there were technically 1000+/- other people of interest at that point. No judge is going to grant a warrant for something that flimsy. It wasn't until the detectives made contact with the roommate, located the firearms, and had them tested that Mir was confirmed to be the culprit.

I would have made a gr8 CIA operative - I used 2 own a copy of the CIA black book aka the improvised munitions handbook - and I made the match gun illustrated within it........but I made an improvement and later used a steel ball bearing as the projectile instead of a cut-down steel bolt - the bolt tumbles in the air when fired, but this does not matter with a ball bearing, because it maintains the same profile as it goes thru the air.......................I also used 360 match heads as propellant instead of the recommended 60 for a more powerful bang.........

1993- Virginia - An international manhunt for a criminal a random killer and believed to be targeting CIA, FBI stepped in. A fingerprint was found on a shell casing used by the killer who killed two men and wounded three others at traffic flow using a AK47 Rifle. The name of Mir Aimal Kansai a Pakistani immigrant came up during investigations.

In the beginning of the video the narrator said that the detectives were alarmed that the killer has some internal knowledge about the CIA's entrances and the new highway junctions. Later we saw that Kansi's brother and family sell him out easily like a goat ( something bizarre in a tribal community). It is obvious the narration is not telling the whole truth and my closest guess is that Kansi himself was a CIA associate at least in a period of his life. Investment on extremists to serve you for a certain cause would always backfire.

It still amazes me, especially reading some of the comments that in the year 2021 a lot of folks across the pond don't understand that decades of US meddling and belligerent foreign policy - particularly across the Asia & the Middle East (you could add Central & South America, Africa, the Balkans etc..)has been the catalyst for a lot of the hate it receives. However, that will never excuse cowardly terrorist acts and I empathise with anyone who has suffered loss or injury as a result of these attacks or questionable occupations. The politicians who instigate these situations never seem to be properly held to account, even when years later it comes out in the wash that the 'premise' for war....e.g. WMD's, that the public was sold on was a pile of BS. In fact, they usually get a seat on the board of an oil, munitions or banking group..... ironically some even become highly paid 'Peace Envoys' or diplomats.
