FYI that flush King will ONLY work if you have a straight shot from the exit valve directly into the black tank. If there's any kind of bend in the sewage pipe it's completely useless.

Having an Orange Vests to wear for you and your helper when you are off the side of the road, walking around or working to fix the problem you having on your RV. The road, traffic can see you clearly weather or not you are using the flares.

One thing I do sometimes is after dumping the black tank and putting the tablet in the tank thru the toilet, and I know we are going to be moving I would put about 5 to 10 lbs of ice in the black tank. The ice will melt, and while moving will scrap, bang, etc. the "stuff" stuck on the walls of the tank. This will also sometime get a black tank gauge working again.
@Five2Go
@Five2Go 4 жыл бұрын
I hear about the ice thing all the time but I've seen it debunked before. I don't remember who it was, but someone built a clear tank out of Plexiglass and ran some tests with sprayers, ice, erratic driving, and other methods for cleaning tanks. The only one that worked was the sprayers (both wand and built in). Not only does ice melt really quickly, it just doesn't have the mass to really dislodge anything. The clearing of the sensors is probably just because you're putting a good amount of liquid down there (melted ice). The worst thing you can do is to have a dry tank, so ice or otherwise, keep putting liquid in there and you shouldn't have any troubles!

Brian and Erin thank you for a great video on safety setup and sewer. I very much appreciate it. I found this from 3 years ago. I thought I saw this one but I think I forgot to comment and thumbs up. Sorry! See you both soon!

Additions I would include: - Extra hose washers - A tote to hold all sewer items. - A Y-splitter for the water hose so you don't have to disconnect drinking water to hook up a second hose for washing the RV or the black water flush. - Even motor homes need leveling blocks as you really don't want to have tires in the air if you can help it. - Automotive fuses, assorted
@Five2Go

Those are some good additions! I did talk about a Y-splitter though 😉

My experience in RV life is zero, but I'm preparing to begin soon. This video will help with my checklist, now I have to just "DO IT"... LOL. Take care guys.

Excellent list. We bought the Viair 400P-RV compressor, our Progressive EMS PT30C surge protector (with bicycle cable lock) and fresh water pressure regulator before we even found and bought our class C. I just knew before clicking "play" that you would come up with something we had totally forgotten. And sure enough there it was ... we need a dedicated water pressure regulator for the black tank flush! Wishing you all dry roads and green lights, Andy & Kim

Ty. These are the things that made me nervous about buying an RV. No one wants to spend that much money just for things to get destroyed because you didn't know what the hell you were doing. I knew there were special things that needed to be purchased. It helps in the final cost, especially if your have a fixed budget. 😃 I also want to know in case my hubby can't for some reason. Great video!👍

I must share this. Most of you may think I'm too off centered. But this works for me. I feel so blessed, because I'm a simple guy who has learned there is so much "stuff" in this world I don't need. I've been full time for around 7 years. I'm primarily a Mn-Az snow bird now, but did my stint around the country. Two things I decided I was never going to do, I never have. I don't use black tanks at all.....I don't fill up my rig with water. I just don't mess with it period. I do have a few cases of drinking water aboard at all times..that's it. Because, 80 percent of the camp grounds I go to have showers, laundry and bathrooms. I don't mind skipping across the road to wash, shower, or take a dumperooski. That beats dealing with sewer issues. I'll hook up to water for dishes, or an occasional shower in the rig...but that's it. Other wise, I have a plethora of friends along the way who don't mind at all if I pop in for a shower. The other 20% of camping I do is in the woods. Most guys love taking a wizz outside, and I don't mind at all to poop with the bears.....my little shovel, and WELL-A ! I do have a nice composting toilet aboard for emergencies..(which I've never used). In case a lady comes over for dinner, wine, coffee and conversation... However....nobody so far has ever used it. No Black tank hoses and headaches for me ! EVER!

Hi: Great Video. I saw your slide out. We cut a slit in the swim noodles and slide them over the bottom part of the slide so the kids don't hit their heads on the end of the slide. I hit mine on them from working under the slide and it even cut my head.

Good video and very helpful for those getting into RV’ing. Camping World has their own Zero-G hoses. Two to a box for the same price as a single Zero-G. I bought them and went through them with my Zero-G and determined it’s the same hose. Literally identical so that’s a way to save a little money and get an extra hose. For the Y, I also recommend putting a back flow on the side you use for the black tank. One, I leave mine there so I always use that side for black flushing. Two, it’s just an extra precaution to make sure nothing is backing up that could contaminate water. I haven’t seen any negative pressure, etc. from it. I also recommend an S2 square bit and if carrying a 1/4” ratchet, get a socket with one as well. A lot of screws on RV’s use square heads and it just makes it a little easier when tightening things back down, opening access panels, etc. You are dead right about Rhino hoses. Love mine and never had an issue. I did however catch one before it became a problem. The ends on sewer hoses can be removed from the actual hose. These are simply fitting that tighten on. Be sure to check them when using them. Would hate to have one loose and it come apart when dumping. Takes 10 seconds and saves a lot of trouble. I would also recommend keeping some Dicor, Plex sealant, Rubber seal spray, and Slide lube with you are well. Just helps to get to it when needed. Sorry this is so long but my last thing is Eternabond tape, especially if you have a rubber, TPO, or EPDM roof. If you get a tear, it’s a fast permanent fix that will probably last longer than the roof. It’s also good if you find a tear in the underbelly, etc.

Five2Go They are actually Amping world branded. Here is the link www.campingworld.com/teknor-apex-zero-g-rv-marine-hose-118570.html. For some reason they have them listed again as clearance but they did the same thing last year. They call them Teknor but the box is a Camping World box. We were just in Myrtle Beach and they had them everywhere there in the store. The one by us has them as well. Either way a pretty good value for 2 and as I mentioned I cannot tell any difference between these and the Zero-G one I have. Pretty sure they are made for Camping World by them.

Great video, Heres a few tips with your 2016 Bounder, on your Surge Guard/ATS. If the part number is 41260 (Black Lable w/white letters) it has very limted protection I highly suggest additional protection. If you have Surge Guard/ATS 40350-RVC or 40450-RVC (White Lable w/black letters) it has good protection. Wet bay, Using the Anderson valve settings, if you plan on switching the valve positions, i.e. from City Fixtures to Tank Fill or any other valve postion make sure you relieve the water pressure from the system before moving the valve. This will greatly improve the life and performance of it. I have additional surge/spike protection on our 2020 35K, I am a big "Power Watchdog" fan from Hurges Autoformers. You can checkout my video walk-thru as well as a product review on the Power Watchdog. Safe Travels.

I'll check those part numbers, thank you! I know about the water pressure in those valves though - it was the same in our last rig. I made sure everything was open and clear before switching things around. 👍👍

The tools aren't very interesting - just some wrenches, sockets, and screwdrivers, the basic stuff you'd need to get most things taken apart and put back together. Maybe I'll do a "what's in your toolbox" episode later on and cover some of the tools and devices unique to RV maintenance. Thanks Josh!

I dunno, dealing with sewer is something new to most RVers but hand tools are pretty common. As for fulltiming, we were on the road for almost two years from late 2017 to summer 2019 and then rented a house. We realized about three months into being stationary that it was a mistake so we're getting back out there in less than a month!

Thanks for the new video! I enjoy watching you talking about poop hahaha. Yeah, that brand of compressors is the BEST in the world. I have one compressor for my Jeep, for offroad. Is not just about the pressure, even the super cheap will state that goes up to 120psi but the thing is how much time can be on without melting. And how quick will inflate a tire. I had one of that brand that makes the green liquid to prevent flat tires, inflated ok, but I had the problem that the tire came out of the rim, you can press the tire down with a rope a stick but a slow compressor wont be enough to quick put pressure so the tire goes in again. Again thanks for the video!

I live in Pensacola, FL. So glad you came through Pensacola on your trip! Your videos are super helpful. I've had bumper pull travel trailers and am now on my second 5th Wheel. I was a full time RV'r for several years traveling for work. I also use stabilizers under my slides, especially the slide with the washer/dryer unit; being very careful to not lift the slide with the stabilizers. Have you used any of those?

Know that the built in surge protector on the bounders are a 1 time use. If it blows you have to put a new one in . Having it is great, but you really should have an external with it too. I've been researching them and have found that to be the case. You will want to have the blue water filter on your hose before any water hits you rig even with the whole rig filter. If not, the muck will get in and your whole house will get run down fast. Doesn't hurt to have a couple filters just to get the best water you can.
@Five2Go
@Five2Go 4 жыл бұрын
I'm going to look into that surge unit a bit closer. Are you sure there isn't just a replaceable breaker or something along those lines in there? Also, while I'm not opposed to doubling up on water filters, how is the onboard one not doing the same thing that the inline one does?
@mrziggy2939
@mrziggy2939 4 жыл бұрын
@@Five2Go As an option it can be good to have second filter. A microbial filter in the internal unit is going to be single use, for however many gallons it's nominally rated for, and pretty expensive. An external unit for sediment, or larger particles in general, may have a rinseable filter, or will be less expensive, so those particles aren't blocking the smaller holes of the last filter. Some whole house filters I've seen marketed use four stages even, if water supply is very hard with lime and metals.
