You are amazing! Thanks for spending the time to share this repair! It totally worked for me. Your communication is stop on. I could not be happier when I saw the chlorinator working again. I would have not known to look at this exact welding if you did not record it. You just save us our summer pool fun this season. It is very hard to find a skillful pool repairman in my area. One thing I did different I went to the master breaker and switched off the 100Amp breaker feeding the pool panel and waited an hour to give time for any capacitor to discharge. I videoed my repair and will share it with all the credits going to you. Thanks again!

I’m glad it worked for you too! I agree about shutting off the power feed to the pool panel from the master breaker panel. That’s the best way to work on it. Unfortunately KZfaq does not allow updates to posted video footage other than trimming bits out with the web interface. The best I could do without losing the comment history, which people also find helpful, was add warnings in description. Thanks for the credit in future video! I hope you get lots of views. I made my No Cell Power video on a whim and filmed it on the fly. I’m so glad I did. The video has helped lot of people a save a ton of money over the years!

Yes, thank you so much! It really helps. Just after I fixed the ‘No Cell Power’ problem following your video, now I’m facing the ‘Pool Bridge Comm’ error and the Check System light is in Red. Anything I can do to resolve it? Thanks

@davidcai6573, I checked with the guy I know who does professional board repairs on these systems. Here is what he said: "That message shows up when the main board is looking for another digital communication component, like variable speed pump or chemical controller (ORP) . But most likely it is that the pump breaker is tripped. " Let me know if you get it going again! Thanks!

Thank you Sir! After watching England lose to Spain I just completed this same fix on my Hayward pool system and it worked a treat…the relay solder joint was burned out and you could smell it from the moment I opened the controller cabinet…once it was re-soldered the error message was cleared. Thanks for such an informative video!

I can’t thank you enough for making this video! I had the exact same issue, same control panel, everything was identical. I picked up a soldering iron and some solder this morning at Canadian Tire for around $40.00. I followed all of your steps in the fix process and it worked perfectly. The local pool store “Pioneer Pools, Barrie, ON” had 1 replacement board in stock at a ridiculous price of $1700.00. I was dreading having to go purchase it and I am so glad I didn’t have to thanks to you and this video! Much appreciated!!!😊

Hi @DanielDoyle-n3k, Thanks for leaving a comment and sharing your success! It helps others see that this repair works and saves a lot of money. By the way, the solder repair in the video has been working great since I filmed the repair. April 2024, my salt cell died. I went to my local store and was quoted around $1800.00 for a replacement T-15 cell which is also ridiculous! I wonder if these prices are for a complete board and cell swap? Anyway, seven years ago the same pool store told me they couldn't warranty a new salt cell unless both the cell and the control board were replaced at the same time. Against their advice, I found a new cell for approximately $400.00 and it lasted until this April. This year I was also able to find a replacement cell for 1/3 of what the pool store quoted me. Hopefully this new cell will also last a very long time. Note: I did have to have the clock module replaced on my board but that was an unrelated problem. If you ever need more complicated board repair work done, I have found a professional service I use that repairs these boards. Their repairs come with a 3 year warranty and prices are very reasonable. Thanks, Tom FiveAble

Thank you for making this video. I ended up using two solder irons (one on each side of the component leg) because I couldn’t seem to get enough heat on the solder joint using one iron. Once I got enough heat, I added a fair amount of solder. Put everything back together and it worked like a champ. Thank you for saving me approximately $1000. I called my pool guy initially, and that is what is was going to cost to replace the circuit board.

I’m glad you were able to work around the soldering issue and get your pool working again! Soldering irons have different wattages and some are cooler than others. I think the one I used in the video was a 25 watt. As cheap as they are, I bet there is a lot of heat variation even among similar wattage irons. Sounds like your problem might have been with limited contact instead of iron wattage. Anyway, I like how you were able to improvise and use 2 irons to get the soldering done! That’s a creative solution and proves there’s usually more than one way to do something. Nice job!!!

This video was very helpful and worked as shown. Only took about 10 minutes to fix the board. Very great job showing the steps. One thing my system had was a breaker to shut all power to my system. So there was no power coming in the bottom but good to be aware where there is still power so you don't hurt yourself. Thank you!!

Thank you for sharing this video. I got a cell no power message on exact same 3 year old Aqua plus Hayward panel. Got a quote of $1200 parts and labor to install new board that would only have one year parts warranty. After watching this well done video I thought why not check my board and found the exact same black circuit failure. Literally took less than 5 minutes to do it myself. I checked two fuses on panel board also to make sure they were good:and they were. I love how people take time to help others with these type videos. I’m still wondering why it always seems to fail in the same spot for what looks like everyone? Thank you again to the original poster!❤

I found your video last night as a last recourse after asking my pool guy to send a technician to my house to assess the same issue as you had and correct it. In view of the pandemic he alerted me it could take a few weeks before the problem would be resolved. I viewed your video a few times, called my friendly neighbour to lend me some solder and fixed the problem in about 10 minutes. The exact same contact as on your video was black on my motherboard. Heated and added a bit of fresh solder, reinstalled everything, put power back on and voilà, problem solved. Thank you very much, huge saving. Already ordered a new soldering kit just in case for the next emergency to replace my 50 yrs old Weller soldering gun. God bless you.

Thank you! Thank you! I was having a Chlorinator Off High Salt amps reading. It had warped the fins inside two more replacement cells before I found this video. I took my 30 watt soldering iron and a desoldering wick to remove as much of the solder from the burnt looking joint. After that it did take me a few attempts with Flux paste and new solder to make a nice joint. Viola! It has been working for a month now!

We bought a house with a pool 8 months ago and have had this message ever since. We have constantly andded salt and chlorine and have never anchieved a crystal clear pool. Our salt level was constantly reading 2500ppm no matter how much salt we added. I found this video yesterday, and IT WORKED!!!!! Of course now that it’s working it finally shows me my accurate salt level which is WAY too high, but an easy fix. I can’t thank you enough! Can’t wait for my crystal clear water! Thank you! This just happened to us today. It took me around an hour or so to fix, mostly because wasps had also decided to build a nest inside the panel. This reminds me of my Bosch dishwasher. The relay there actually burns out every few years. They want to charge several hundred for a new board, but for less than $10 you can buy a new relay, desolder the old, and then solder the new in.

Hi Todd. Glad you got yours fixed too. Wasps are a problem around here too. Interesting point about the Bosch. I have found similar problems with other boards too. One was an A/C controller in a 92 Volvo. Found a bad solder joint and fixed it just like in the video and the A/C started working again in the car. Thanks for commenting!

Sir you just made my day, if we were neighbor ill get you a beer or wiskey, totally deserve it!! I never had issue with the pool getting green in my short 1 year of ownership of that house, and i didn't understood why the chlorinator was keep refusing to stay on upon restart in the diagnostic menu, even if salt level was good, so i searched and found your video! I have a different panel version but the contact was fried at the same exact corner of the board. I have the same exact soldering iron than you and im lucky that i had about 1 inch of remaining flux wire so i had only 1 try without going get some more, and i did it! Thanks to you! Have a great day, you have all my respect!

Thanks so much! When I tipped the board over it looked EXACTLY like your board with the same burn coloration. Cleaned the point, re- soldered it and saved a ton of money. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Additional comments: I smelled the "burning electrical wire" smell when I opened my panel door. My 2h.p. pool motor was humming and wouldn't start so that is the reason I opened the panel. I took off the start capacitor which was leaking and ordered a new one. When I put power back on the panel, that's when I got the "No power to the cell" annunciator. I didn't have a way to test the old capacitor so I don't know if the non-starting of the pump was a bad capacitor or related to the "No Cell Power" in some way? THANKS AGAIN!
@fiveable
@fiveable Жыл бұрын
Hi Therese, That’s interesting. A leaking capacitor is never a good thing. This is the first time anyone has commented about a non-start condition for the motor followed by the No Cell Power error message. I wonder if the bad capacitor caused increased load which in turn caused the relay pin to get hotter than normal and burn out the connection. Sounds possible but it’s just a guess. Could also be a coincidence. Either way, I’m glad you got your pool working again! Thanks for the detailed comment! I’m sure it will help others looking for answers!
