Thanks so much your video has ended two days of frustration trying to get rid of crackle when recording through Focusrite Scarlett8i6 into Reaper using windows 11. A set up that worked fine with my old windows 10 computer. I think it was changing the power options that made the difference for me, and stopping windows from powering down usb sockets. Thanks for the vid. I've been having this issue. It comes and goes and most of the time it's fine. I've temporarily fixed it before by replugging the USB cable in the back of my interface but even then sometime that doesn't work. I'm hoping after trying all the methods you suggested, it works permanently. Fuck Focusrite seriously. People have been having these issues for so long and nothing gets done about it.

For whatever reson I solved my crackling problem by changing from 48kHz to 44.1 and then changed it back to 48. not really sure what is going on :)

I think it got a little better for me but the recording is still noisy. I think a balanced cable plugging my bass to the interface will do the trick.

Took me forever to figure this out. It wasn't the settings. It wasn't the USB port. I just had to go in and redownload the newest version of the focusrite drivers.

I think it has a lot to deal with power. I had a 2nd gen 2i2 and just watching videos or listening to anything I hear crackling glitching noises and I thought it was just the interphase getting old so I got a 4th gen and the same thing happens, everything is up to date, windows always tries to add dumb power saving tricks in the background and I think that’s what’s happening for me. I might just wipe everything and try a fresh install of windows and see what happens

Ty, no more crackling. But I can't say it's a fix. Focusrite is not the cheapest stuff u can find and I expected it to work well when I bought it. And now I must follow the only setting that allows it to functionate. God, It's been so many years and they still didn't make a fix.

I have a simple setup in my 2I2 4th Gen from my computer USB3 port to the USB C port on the 2I2. I have two small studio speakers. I am getting static noise after playing music. I have discovered that I must switch the sample rate in the focusrite settings from 44.1 to 48 and that works for a short time. after a few minutes I must switch back to 44.1 sample rate. This is constantly going on. Any advice that I might try?

I have a static sound when adjusting volume. Using the scarlet solo to run studio monitors.

Hi Mate. Nicely put together video. The issue I have is during playback, when I move/hover my mouse over a "clickable item" (not sure what the proper term for this is) I get a "pinprick pop". So, if I don't move the mouse around, playback is good. I tried all the troubleshooting recommendations that you mentioned but it didn't make a difference. I even tried different streaming quality within Spotify but the issue is not limited to Spotify. The issue persists with or without the driver being installed. It's almost like there's a tiny bit of processing that happens when you move your mouse over a "clickable item" that is causing a tiny interruption in the data transfer. I found a reddit thread from 6 days ago and someone is having the same issue. Hopefully we can figure this out.

I was also pulling my hair out because my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen would randomly start producing horribly garbled audio. I'd have to unplug and replug the USB cable to get it working again every time. The only workaround that worked for me at the time was disabling CPU C-States in my motherboard's BIOS, but now I'm trying to find a less intrusive workaround, since C-States can be helpful for single core performance. I have previously tried everything you mentioned in your video except for reducing the sample rate to 44.1. Will give that a try next.
