FIX EXHAUST DRONE WITH THIS CHEAP EASY MOD!!
In this episode we'll be eliminating the exhaust drone on the 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactiv, with the Mazdaspeed 3 Cat back Exhaust installed. We'll be doing so by testing different exhaust tips to see if they make a difference. Testing a DC Sport Resonated exhaust tip, a twin tip and comparing the results to the OEM tips

This video helped a lot because i just put a straight pipe glasspack and it sits underneath my trunk and HOLY. CRAP. Its wayyy too loud inside the cabin. Definitely due to it being under the car instead of out the back of the car. Definitely going to buy some longer tips to push that sound outside the cabin out the back👌

My new exhaust has removable tips, with about 3 inches of travel..... the drone is terrible at 65-75mph, never thought of moving it backwards! I will try this 😁😁😁

What do you suggest for a 2012 Nissan Altima I was gonna get the resonator one but help lol or a j pipe

The resonated tips didn't help for drone, I found just bringing them out to be helpful as a first step but if you're trying to rely remove the drone I think the best way is a J pipe, let me know how it goes! 👍

Do you think the resonated tips sound the same as the stock tips because it wasnt sticking out the back as far?

That's good question, if I remember correctly I did try to bring out the resonated tip out more but didn't change much

I have a 6 cylinder 2005 bmw 730li and have the drone at 2000 rpm. So anything at 1.5 and 2.5 is clean.

For the DC sport exhaust tip, is it required to cut a part of the stock exhaust off?

no, mine was a 2.5 inch tip and it fits very deep onto the stock pipe

@@freezerayguy9437 yessir, it’s a 2010 acura TL if you wanna look it up. it has dual exhaust and the tips were welded to the muffler

That's a great question, I was trying to make things work with what I just got at the time, but I'm actually planning on changing the muffler soon! 👍

Hey James, I just put FlowMasters on my Mustang. Good sound but Made droning horrible. Tips or J pipe may need to be added. It’s all about the megahertz, not the mufflers.

You need a j pipe to cancel out drone completely.

Yeah that true! I looked into that, I was going to go that route if it was still droning too much after the tips and silencer. But I'm pretty happy with the sound right now though, I definitely think the tips are a good starting point 👍🏻

@@DrivingProduction Yes definitely,I have the same problem with a classic mini. I unfortunately don't have the room underneath for a j pipe. So what I did was got some stainless exhaust tube and hammered it in the tip about 6 inches,this has helped a lot. My next move will be adding more sound deadening under rear seat and boot area. Hope my "tips" help you out 😉 Thanks for your reply 👍

Definately! It's always nice to get feedback, and different tips! I actually did some videos on sound deadening lol thinking the same thing. I personally didn't think it made a big difference for the exhaust drone, but it did quiet down the cabin and got a better sound out of the speakers though! Hopefully this can help you out too! 👍🏻😁

@@DrivingProduction Cool,with your Mazda many have had success with the Catback system from what I can gather. Not cheap though! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jtSHrcaQntinf40.html Another post recommended to try a different centre resonator or a free flow CAT. You my have read about these already but worth a shot. i run the DC Sport res tip with a magnaflow straight through and it sounds amazing with little to no drone though that may be due to how the piping had to be routed as well edit: mine is single exit

I agree i wouldnt have said it as rude as you bcuz its actually a good video but yea too much taking. Just get straight to the point does it help with drone or not.
