FIX Garage Door opener sensor issues EASY CHEESY! Won't close? Sunlight issues? "Snip! Snip!" :-)

IN THIS VIDEO I show you a simple way to test your sensors, then show you where you shouldn't place them..... and then I encourage you to DO IT ANYWAY. :-D
THIS METHOD IS EASY ... but keep in mind; .. you have to have sensors! There is NO WAY to bypass them. For me, mounting them up top is MUCH easier than the original spot. No alignment issues, no worries. But this is my choice. YOU can do what you think is right, but this will help you replace your sensors and get your garage door closing properly.

I do mostly Disney videos.. but I fix things as well!! After suffering through the other videos here regarding this.... one using an oscilloscope? .. the other a circuit board? really guys?, I decided to post my own.
In clear English, layman terms (like "Cut" and "Splice") and TO THE POINT. *FOR EXPERIMENTING ONLY!* ((::wink::wink::nudge::nudge:: know what I mean? ;-) )) Do the right thing and hire a professional to ... splice a couple wires and charge you $140 to do it!! :-)

Thank you all! I did this video 4 years ago and my sensors still work great! No snow, rain, cold, heat, sun, earthquakes.. or carelessness, will misalign them now. I HAVE TO CONFESS HOWEVER: the main reason I put the sensors up top is because I like to pull an Indiana Jones when I run out my garage door. I press the button in my garage and RUN... If the sensors are 6" off the floor, they catch the whip on my side and it ruins the entire experience! So with this, I can roll under the door... and I even have time to grab my fallen fedora at the last second! 😀😉😅

I did this, then my mother in law was taking her yappy chihuahua for a walk and I came home to them both crushed like a pancake under the door. Best idea ever

One important note. If the sensors work, good chance the problem is your wiring.

Luv it cut that crap out. This is The only real solution. Brand new $10,000 garage door and opener nothing but problems. Design just to give the installer unlimited service call money. One time a spider web blocked it but it's always something even the lights are green and it doesn't work. I did basically the same thing though I used a bar instead of tape with the bolts to kind of hold them down they make that plumbing tape or you can use I happen to have some electrical mounting brackets that fit perfectly but you know that thing on the back of car stereo with the holes in it to strap it to the body that works. Anything you can fabricate with holes with the exact spacing and it could be really sturdy and this is what I did. I hate these stupid sensors

Finally, someone with a logical, simple way to test sensors without taking down the unit. Thank you for recording and sharing this. I am tired of garage door repairman taking a guess - process of elimination on my dollar! I just saved $600 and was told it was most likely the logic board because that's what they have been seeing, and I might as well get a new unit, because the logic board has been on back order for months. I asked, is there a way to check the sensors separately, and was told we cannot because the logic board isn't recognizing the sensors. SAME excuse from two different companies. UGH!!!!!!! My sensors work, thanks to this test video, all I did was replaced all the wiring that leads to the unit, and BAM! It all works. $10 worth of 100 ft of OEM Liftmaster sensor wiring. However, I am out the $65 x 2 service calls from the two repairman (lazy or incompetent) looking to make the company MONEY!

Thanks but it’s absolutely ridiculous that we have to do any of this. My new garage door simply doesn’t close during the day because of whatever sunlight ghosts these sensors are sensing. I have to wait until it’s dark to close my door without issue and without going out to the garage and holding the button down. Even then it takes 3 tries.

Greg garage door video word of advice make sure you put the safety sensors on the bottom of the garage door 6 inches above the garage floor because that is state code regulation

Wow. Spent days researching what my issue was and how to fix it. Got frustrated and schedule for someone to come out then saw this video and was able to fix it myself. Turned out the wires needed replacing and was able to knock it out within a couple hours. Thanks!

I own a garage from the Mesozoic Era and after fighting with my sensors all of the time - I noticed my moms garage door was wired just like this. Finally a solution.
