I’ve had the string line get melted to itself before. Not like into a solid glob of plastic, but just enough that bumping the head won’t cause the string to come out. Sometimes all it needs is a good tug to loosen stuff up. If anyone knows any way to prevent the melting in the first place that would be great.

I have had that on the weed eater and my old gas model. I haven't had it happen with a better string line, like the ugly twist brand.

I'm having the same exact problem. It's very very annoying. I have to keep on stopping to fix it. I'm thinking I should maybe try a different string other than Ryobi string

I would try ugly twist line, using this solved the problems I was having, sort of.

Mine is not turnin I've tried hitting it with a hammer and doesn't budge. Any suggestions?

You may need a vice to hold it while you try to turn it, or ask strong friend. Unfortunately, as someone mentioned on my other video, you need to be the Hulk to undo the head.

@@DIYwithCam I'm in the same boat. I can't get the head apart cause the line is so jammed. I have hammered the heck out of it to no avail. And I can't get the entire head off either to put it in my vice. It's stuck too!! Grrrr

Putting it back is a pain. horrible horrible design. You have to have a big hand to get a grip and it wont move that easily with that spring in place. Once you open it , it just doesnt go back

Try using a vice or a woodworking clamp to hold the base steady while you turn the top.
