@@MakaFanaTiko14 Nerves are supposed to slide a bit in their tract as you move, and don't like being stretched, but sometimes they can get stuck in the the connective tissue surrounding them so they stretch instead of sliding, which causes a feelings of pain and tightness and limits movement. The sciatic nerve runs from the base of the spine down the back of the leg and to the foot, so when the patient tried to touch their toes, the sciatic nerve was being stretched instead of sliding along its tract as it should. The activation exercises and glute workouts help it glide like it's supposed to.

Same here mate. I had seen loads of "specialists" and physios. NONE OF them know what they are doing to be honest. All they want to do is cut me open and fuse my spine. Which I can do cause I've not long had a 2 year battle with bone poisoning cause they fused my big toe and it went septic. So I'm so glad I've found this channel with someone who actually knows their craft. Over here in Britain all they want to do is cut you open and operate. And physios don't have a clue what they're doing.

Roughly 15% of people have their ass coatic nerve running through the piriformis. Underdeveloped hip muscles can also cause sciatic irritation because of this. Edit, just saw the typo here, ass coatic should be sciatic, but I think "ass coatic" is weirdly more descriptive.

Good video : but illopsoas tightness can cause an anterior pelvic tilt that also keeps hamstrings tight ! Both need to be evaluated and RPR can decrease illopsoas tightness and activate them from sitting too much! A common cause of this imbalance! Just my guess from being a Physical Therapist Assistant for 30+ years !
@erusean84927 ай бұрын
I have both issues, lol
@erikreuterskiold59967 ай бұрын
In this case iliopsoas is very unlikely as a cause as neural glide actually improved range of movement. Infact id say psoas tightness is more likely to cause posterior tilt, due to tendon pushing pelvis backwards as it crosses the pubic bone. Iliopsoas can cause both anterior or posterior tilt, depending on which section is tighter; iliac section or psoas section.

I am not well versed on musculoskeletal system, but I am currently at higher marks than the last 2 RMT students in my sister’s class, based solely on the written quizzes/exams. But I did have a surgery that limited my arm movement, and I essentially went from my back looking natural, to my shoulders being so severely slumped that I almost looked like the top of a question mark. I couldn’t straighten without pulling sutures, and I was in so much back pain. A Physiotherapist helped me out and figured what I needed within a few minutes of just looking at me and listening to me. It was mainly looking to just figure out how to stretch without moving my arms, or laying on my front. 1x assisted bed stretch later, and an explanation as to what the illiopsoas is, and I was a CHANGED man. Took it from an 8 down to a 3.75 on my pain scale within 3 sets of stretches. Shout out to all y’all for making miracles happen with your depth of body knowledge!

@LAERides7 ай бұрын
Dude you applied a distal modifier to a SLR stretch. This result is 100% expected, no semi-competent physio would miss this. The distal modifier applied a stretch on the gastroc, which attaches above the knee, essentially straightening the knee and applying more stretch to the hamstring. This EXACT movement is also a neural tension test, ITS DESIGNED TO APPLY TENSION TO THE SCIATIC NERVE. This is not new.
@AnonymousToast28827 ай бұрын
This. I thought I was losing my mind lmao. Dorsiflexion elongates the hamstrings so of course the result would be reaching maximal stretch of the muscle earlier. And plantarflexion does the opposite so of course it would allow further movement of the leg. His conclusion that the tightness “wasn’t coming from the hamstrings” truly makes zero sense
@steewad7 ай бұрын
Wow. Thought I had the same problem as patient at first. But after reading your comments, of course that's gonna happen. When you flex your foot and put your hand behind your knee, you can even feel the tendon pulling on your hamstring. He made a pretty big mistake here. Granted, I can touch the floor with my full palms, do a pistol squat and can feel my butt when I single leg hip hinge.

I had lower back and leg pain for years. If I would massage my back I could feel the affect all the way down my back, leg and into my foot. Clearly a trapped nerve. Went to chiropractors and all sorts. Saw a video on yet about how it can be the nerve trapped and tight hamstrings and quads a few weeks ago and the penny dropped. I started doing quad and hamstring stretches and about a week ago I finally managed to “pop” something that wouldn’t pop for years. It was like someone fired a gun inside my skin from the lower back all the way down my leg into my heel. The sensation made me actually yell out in surprise. For the past week I have slept well every night. Sleeping well was something I haven’t done in I’d say 2-3 years since the issue started. Now my lower back does still ache a little but I’m pretty sure it’s just residual pain that will heal. Now when I massage my back I can no longer feel it all the way down my leg and positions and activities that were uncomfortable for me before now aren’t. It feels incredible to finally have some normality back. To not be in pain and be able to sleep. Bliss. Trapped nerves are a bitch.
