This has been my no. 1 physical problem for the past 25 years. In the last 6 months though I've fixed most or all of it with; 1 - dead hangs; 2 - kb overhead press; 3 - mace 360/shield cast; and 4 - bodyweight rows. It disappoints me to no end that i didn't know how simple the solution was 25 years ago.

@sparke7236 A single arm side swipe from low to high (or rather horizontal) seems do do something for my rounded shoulders. What makes a difference is rotating the arm at the end, horizontal position to thumbs up. That makes all the muscles rotating the scapula back activate. I consciously do a little extra at that end. Otherwise it wouldn't work for rounded shoulders. I guess this could be developed into a diagonal swipe too. From pulling a sword to high toarch, or something like that.

A couple years ago when I first got my 15 lb club and realized it felt heavier than I thought it would, I was still eager to try these movements because I thought they looked cool but I found my softball bat in a closet and practiced with it first. I knew I wouldn't get the movements perfectly but I played with the bat for some time before trying anything with the club. Definitely did not want to be confused swinging something weighted anywhere along my body. There was still a "I better be careful moving up from a light bat to something heavier" moment when I moved away from the bat, but the adjustment was not bad. The main thing for me was noticing with the bat that you have to stop it on a dime when returning to order position and then keeping it in mind that it's even more important keeping that awareness with the club. .

If that’s not good enough you can drill out the end of the bat and pour lead in. Be sure and create a chamfer so the lead doesn’t fly out.

Hi Mark! I know this request post/comment doesn't fit in this video, but I wasn't sure you'd see/read a comment a few days late in an older video........ Since we seem to have come to the unilaterally loaded deadlift portion of the Basic KB exercises series, I'd like to request you to please do detailed technique videos on the Single arm-Single leg KB RDL movement family (& its variations, like the B-stance RDL) -- There is a lot of confusion & non-standardization w.r.t. this movement. Should we hold the KB in the same hand as the rising leg, or in the opp. hand (i.e. same side as the stance leg)? Should/Can the stance leg bend at the knee, or not? How much? We're supposed to hinge at the hip, but this is more difficult to do, imagine & feel with one leg on the ground... How high should we raise the non-stance leg? For the B-stance RDL, how far behind the main stance leg should the kickstand/balance leg be placed? I, for one, even after watching a ton of YT videos on these, still haven't got the hang of these exercises mainly because the instructions are either incomplete, or confusing, or at times even contradictory (several 'experts' say things opposite of each other!)... This has caused me to basically give up on these, as I tend to feel these movements less in the target muscles (glutes, hammies) & more in my lower back -- which is not great -- and which is a pity as these movements are great for building strength & stability! These are relatively simple movements/exercises which I don't think you have covered previously (at least not in this series - Basic KB Exercise series) - and I think these do qualify as 'basic KB' exercises... Maybe you can cover them all in a single video; or maybe break them up into multiple individual videos -- whatever you see fit... Hoping to get detailed instructional videos on these, Mark... Thanks for all you do, Mark! Have a good 'un!

Short answer, yes. Long answer, because the weight of a club is on the end of a longer lever, it forces your body to compenstate slightly different.

Hey Mark, I know Cold Steel makes several different versions of their bats. If you have all the different bats (I feel like you might in the workout equipment/weapon collection 😂) or have an opinion on which bat model you prefer or would recommend...which bat would that be? Or that could make an interesting video perhaps. Thanks Mark

@wesdavis8 I would use Indian Clubs very carefully for a long time. When ready for heavier clubs, I would still use Indian clubbs for warm up. If it hurts, work around that. There's a kind of hurt telling you not to do something. And another which tells you you have to do it. Actually, most rehab is about doing something that's very inconvenient.

As for the feet pointing straight forward Mark, if you let your leg(s) hang naturally by tilting your body sideways(lifting your foot off the ground from the hip tilt) you can see how you hip rotates to it's natural position and most people will have a slight more or less angle to where their toes are pointing outside the line, very few people have a naturally straight forward pointing foot. Keeping your feet pointing forward when it's not their natural position isn't good either.

Most people have collapsed arches and pointing their feet straight ahead helps that

@wally6193 I guess the cue could be: point your knees straight forward. Because that what matters. If your feets points out when your knees points forward, then you have to let them.
