Just a little extra info. If your GM vehicle is a 2006 or earlier model and it has a factory GDO it will probably be a Homelink, not a CAR4U. And it won't work with newer Liftmaster/Chamberlain door opener. My neighbor has a 2005 Escalade with Homelink and couldn't get it to pair up with his 2015 Liftmaster opener. For those older GM vehicles (2006 and older) with Homelink you need a Homelink G855LM repeater kit in order for Homelink to open those newer garage door openers. Amazon has a 855LM repeater kit for sale, but I don't know if that's the same as a G855LM, so beware. You can get G855LM repeater kits from other sources. The CAR4U kit in this video won't work with Homelink transmitters, it will only work with CAR4U GDOs in the 2007-2013 vehicles, as was stated in the video. I wasn't aware of CAR4U by Lear being in 2007-2013 GM vehicles, so I learned something new from this video. And a bit of trivia for those who don't know...Liftmaster and Chamberlain are the same company with the same door openers. The only difference is that Liftmaster is sold to professional garage door companies while Chamberlain is sold to consumers in big box stores.

I had to swap in an old homelink overhead console in my car and get a homelink repeater - similar to this video to get this to work with my new craftsman power head. These old Lear Car2U systems are dead when it comes to working with newer stuff.

I bought one of these Car2u repeaters on eBay. This isn’t working between my 2012 (Lear Car2u) Chevy Silverado and brand new Craftsman MyQ garage door opener (made by Chamberlain). I’ve done the hold buttons 1 & 3 -> press learn button on opener -> press and hold button 1 in truck. Tried this sequence 4 or 5 times. Nothing happens :(. My truck buttons worked perfectly with an older Genie model that I had to replace. Any ideas? I have the repeater plugged in inches away from the door opener. The repeater has a steady yellow light glowing when plugged in.

Couple things. When you press button one and three at the same time, it’s just a quick press you don’t need to hold that in. When you press the learn button on your opener unit, sometimes you need to press that button twice. In my situation, I needed to press it twice, and then the light started to flash. Then go in to the car, press, and hold the button you want to program, and, like I said, in the video, you have to let go of that button immediately when you see movement or light flash, or something react in your garage door opener. That’s my only feedback. in my case, I have the repeater plugged in about 20 feet from the openers, and 10 feet from my keypads. I don’t believe that the repeater needs to be close to anything in particular. I hope this helps, if you get it figured out, please let us know here. Thanks for your comment.

Thank for your reply bud. I tried it again taking your comment into account and it still won’t work. I’ll give Craftsman a call. If they can’t help me I guess that will be it. I wonder if some of these brand new smart openers are just incompatible?

This repeater will not work with my new Craftsman opener for my 2013 Ford car2u system. Car2u is no longer in business and Chamberlain told me there is no way to pair a car2u to their new openers, even with their repeater. I've tried every scenario of programming the car2u buttons to my new opener, and nothing will work. I even tried to buy a new logic board for my old Craftsman opener, but they don't exist anywhere, so now I'm left with having to use the remote that came with my new opener.
