Will this pen point the problem because I have 10 codes that showed up all at once and the dealer said might be an electrical problem and they want to charge 125.00 just to read the codes and then charge me more after that

What codes are showing and what kind of car do you have?

You do realize the dealer might actually be right don't you? High probability that 10 codes at once could be an issue with the connections to said components. You will find what you're looking for and if you're looking for the answer you want to hear someone will tell you that.

It’s a scanner, it doesn’t replace a technician. Codes help, but they often don’t pinpoint

I have a check engine light and the fixd device was unable to read the code. Also I have the cheapest auto zone reader you can buy and it reads the check engine just fine. Any reason why that might be?

Please I had faced a similar problem. Fixe was unable to read check engine. Please can I know which auto zone reader you bought and where to buy it.

Does it actually pinpoint? No misfire code but two codes for o2 sensor and upstream catalytic converter. It was neither of these. I changed o2 sensors. Not it. Ran catclean even though I know it’s good. Not that old of a car and not many miles. It was cylinder 4 fuel injector. So I replaced all the injectors. Problem solved. The coils and spark plugs were changed 30k miles prior.

If this thing can really pinpoint a bad coil, then it's well worth it. Because that would've saved me a ton of money in 2017. But if it's that easy, then why did my professional auto shop not be able to accurately diagnose that I actually had three bad ignition coils and recommended I replace my O2 sensor, which I wasted money on.

It's super common for mechanics to try to squeeze extra money out of you. Happened to me as well. They told me I needed throttle body replacement. Spent 500 for the fix but turned out it was blown head gasket which was super easy find because it was leaking. Never went back to them again

As an engineer myself, the way DTCs are set up can be different from car to car. In your case, with the car you had the diagnostic information may not have been able to pin point this exact fault. Although, they should have had other ways to diagnose a bad coil.

So, we buy FIXD for 60 bucks and only get rhe phone app for 1 week then we need to pay a subscription after that? I would say that’s also an upsell.

I bought it , it's a piece of SH*T per my experience. Regularly fails to connect , when it connects you feel you hit the LOTTRY. Imagine the frustration when you are trying to detect failing codes, while doing repairs, it cannot connect . So frustrating . Tried it with my other car, same thing , it hardly connects. I am sorry I bought it. Wasted $20+
