hi, follow these steps on the the existing command prompt. type: regedit file > load hive > browse > C:\Windows\System32\config > select > SYSTEM > GIVE SOME RANDOM NAME. then access this key and navigate to: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TrustedInstaller under TrustedInstaller look for : start edit start: change the value to 1 save exit and the proceed with teh steps fromteh video let me know if that works

Quick question I have this error as well on a real windows 10 pc and the info section of it is different: The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors. I used server 2008 R2 which shares same built for win8. For win 10 it may work but cannot guarantee. We are trying to repair the boot, so the steps will be little different for win 10 but plz try these ones and update me. I will get the solution for 10

So ummm the usb came and it went to the command prompt and well, bootrec /fixMBR and bootrec /fixboot did not work cause of a "I/O device error." So I couldnt finish anything from there... I even tried the notepad thing and I couldnt get anywhere with that as well... So that means it never worked... please respond cause I really want this computer to work, please!

do this Type sc config trustedinstaller start= auto; then, press Enter. You should get a SUCCESS message. Next, type net start trustedinstaller; then, press Enter. You should receive a message that the service was started.

Np, there's a file called pending.xml stored in c\windows\ sxs\ All you have to do is to rename this file to pending.xml.old Or open the file and clear it's content

I will tell you a secret, while you in the recovery environment..type notepad..it will open notepad..then from the file menu select open and then using the file explorer UI ,u can now navigate to c\windows\sxs foldee and then rename that file

I performed everything on here and I gotta say… everything i see on the video is identical to what I got, until,p I get to the rebuild at the very end in witch it says it has found 0 windows? After I tried to use the OS Disc and Command Prompts and it would fail at bootrec / fixboot, I got tired of messing with the straight USB-win 7 install. I've been in a Install Loop for a day & a half. I had to use an USB Flash Drive with windows 10 pro on it in order to load windows on a new SSD. Now it's stuck in a Windows 10 Pro install loop so I had to remove the USB drive after it loaded the files.......If it's ever installed, Ill go to Disc Management, Partition the SSD so I have an 700GB Partition, where I'll install Windows 7 Pro so I have a Dual Boot Laptop. Then I just stay on Windows 7 Pro. Personally I believe that Microsoft gives you 1 good Download to install of the USB OS Boot Tool, after that they don't install all the files needed to install windows 7. If your copy had an issue then every new download you get will not work. That was my experience..

@@AwelsTech I used a hack copy of Acronis True Home 2014 and after 2 times I was able to clone the drive into a bootable 1TB SSD worked on a Dell Latitude D-630, which has a optical device where I can remove to add a 2nd SSD/HDD. But it will only work in that Dell laptop. This new ThinkPad is just a $465 brick that I'm thinking just sell because I don't want to run windows 10 period....

For Windows 7, I keep getting "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service. I tried running "sc config trustedinstaller start= auto" and "net start trustedinstaller", but the same issue occurs. Note the sc.exe only is available in my F:\ partition where the failing windows installation lives (not in the X: boot drive), I was getting the error: 'sc' is not recognized as in internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Okay, no worries..do you have USB drive? Deleted. Ohk.. have you heard about big copy? Copy all the data from system 32 from a working computer to your computer and then run the BCD command. but this is very time consuming. You better do on top installation..you might lose the application installed but at least the data on the computer will be safe.

@@AwelsTech i succeeded by swapping places on boot menu , the first option was hard and i put cd / dwd as the first and then the computer finally reacted on cd. I cam to the part with sfc / scannnow /offbootdir .... But says : there is system repair pending which requires reboot to complete . Restart windows and run sfc again . Thanks again

Mine is kind of irony.. I wanted to reformat my laptop therefore i use a bootable usb after i chose what type of OS i like. This error appears. How to fix it?

Sorry for the late reply, all of you have to do is to get into the BIOS and change the bootable media back to what it was original. Let me share the link of the video that explains how to select bootable media

Follow the same steps, rebuilding the bcd store should fix the issue.

In my case when i put the pendrive and start the computer it only appear back to windows boot manager :(

Haha there's always OS. You just need to rebuild the BCD store to let your system knows where the OS is

.EFI or Extensible Firmware Interface file. These files are executable files for the firmware of the computers that are based mainly on UEFI and execute the tasks of loading the files to the bootloader of the computer.

basically both these files does pretty much same work, it just depends on the boot type BIOS or UEFI.....but the steps should be...we need to fix the boot records in BCD

BCD which means boot configuration data, that maintains the info from where the OS boot, which OS to boot and which disk and partition to look for...so basically creating new BCD it is always a good practice to backup the original..hope that answers
