Quick fix to get my Harvest Right Freeze Drier door to seal

I just got mine and its failing to seal, I fig'd out the hinge side to loosen jam nut and tighten the hex bolt but found a diff guy showing those 4 screw heads at top/btm and left and right are what you adjust for the drum to make handle tighter. I gotta do that now. Actually, that guy I saw elsewhere is wrong. that doesn't adjust squat. I just took a crescent wrench and bent my lock tab towards the door and now its tighter so you can get rid of that tape.

Seems the door is a common problem. Just got my brand new medium sized harvest right freeze drier and no surprise the door is loose as a goose! For the price you think you would pay better attention to these basic but vital details! Nothing in the user's manual to address tightening the door!!

Unfortunately, Harvest Right is not good at quality control, or customer support.

Dude! A new video! I don't have a freeze dryer yet. I'm a bit behind on my preps at the moment. But that's good info to know when I eventually get one.

Thanks. Its been really hard to find time with kids. I figured I would throw out this simple video because I haven't seen anyone else use this method, and its such a common problem.

wow! tape! lol. my handle has about 1/4 inch gap!

You do know that the door and chamber are adjustable?

Did it say it couldn’t achieve vacuum? Mine is getting that error… I tried spacing out the handle but still says that error…

sorry but i have payd 4500 USD for the medium home dryer ... do you think i will use now tape or WC paper ... jesus ... "living in america ..."

I saw your comment on another YT vid. Geez I'm having the same stupid issue!!!! Haven't called yet. Door wouldn't seal right out of the gate. I'm not starting to put painters tape on something that I just spent thousands on. Let me know if you figured it out. On the other vid I saw that you commented on one of the viewers said he spoke with Harvest Right and they told him to pull out the gasket a little then shut the door and it worked. Not for me. I was at 1700 mTorr and pulling the gasket out got me to 1500 mTorr after 30 min.

@@resourcefulgirl Just wanted you to know that I agree that I am not satisfied to have received a product that did not work/seal properly out the gate at the price I paid. I like using the freeze dryer and it is in the garage so I don't really care that it looks ridiculous to have a piece of tape on it. That said, after I implement this fix to get my next batch going I am absolutely calling the company to complain. No excuse to have this be such a common problem with their product that youtube videos need to be made to correct it.

@@merlindodson7562 Agreed. When I spoke to them they said it will freeze dry with an mTorr of 1500 whereas the manual states 500. I did pull the gasket out about 1" to 1/2" and then shut the door. I'm using it successfully now but I wish out of the box the door screws were tightened appropriately. Another complaint I have is that it looks like the door is second hand. It's not clear. The plexiglass is smooth on both sides but the logo from the insulating pillow looks frosted into the glass. You can see the frosted leaves and the handle on the door. It looks awful!
