Now THIS is a toolbox tour. This guy clearly uses these tools and has a mix of brands. This is so much more enjoyable than someone spending $36k on a fancy box they didn’t even need full of junk they never use. You can spot a real mechanic a mile away, and this guy is legitimate. Thanks for posting this!

It is just as fun to see honest, hard workers as it is to see their tools. To see the pride they have in their tools, it may be the only time in their lives they have someone appreciate the work that they do. I am not sure anyone is telling them thanks for their work, or appreciates the investment in tools they do make.

What a nice guy. Impressive and well maintained tool collection too. Thanks for sharing. As far as Knipex, I have several of their locking pliers, and I honestly don't think they're any better than the cheap ones. The joints are stiff, the jaws have wiggle, and I sometimes get pinched releasing them. I use them for welding clamps now as I replaced them with Malco Eagle Grips, which are much better in every way. Sadly, they aren't made anymore.

This was a fun tour, older Snap tools. The majority of my Snap On is from the 80s and 90s. Its amazing how it works sometimes with generational careers. Great GD hand built and operated a grist mill and did wagon repair on the side, Granddad farmed and repaired everything on his own, dad was a mechanic and welder, I spent 45 years wrenching and my son works running dyno's and wrenching. Fun tour.

Another great tool box tour! Lot different than auto repair. Even back when the MODIS came out, my big top drawer was full of scan tools. That changed over the years, but I’m getting the Zeus+ (I think) and may switch back to more diagnostics. Why the Snap-on Zeus? Before you ask… it’s an all-in-one tool and I learned the hard way Snap-on you can get it repaired! May not be the best but service after the sale. Tool boxes and hand tools, they all make good ones.

Budget yourself and don’t get in debt buying tools. You have a lifetime to fill up a toolbox. I got cheap sockets and wrenches because I know they’re going to get cut up and welded. The sizes I use the most for the equipment I’m working on I bought individually from a tool truck. Clean and oil your tools and toolbox every week. If you don’t like something then change it. Every shop is different so don’t give up this career. It’s better to specialize early on and get away from what everyone else is doing. Never ever work hard and always wear protective gear, because you will be left with health problems, and the shop will find another guy in a week.
