I have a Tanaka trimmer that is almost 40 years old and has original lines and bulb. I don't know what magic they used. The pervious owner took good care of it and so have I and it is completely original. I feel very lucky to have such a nice little unit that is so well made.

We were a Tanaka dealer from the Early 80's until corporate mergers diluted the line. The original stuff would last forever and is pretty common to find still running after 30 years.

I have probably the same 18cc featherlite. Bought it new in 98. Been a great light weight trimmer. I live on farm so it gets lots of running. On its forth primer bulb but still has original diafram. I have used a cane for the last 15 year's. If it wasn't for it's light weight I would not be able to trim anymore. I can use it comfortable with one hand. I have 4 others I have picked up on marketplace for parts as parts are getting hard to find.

Same trimmer I used for a few years until I stopped cutting my own grass; was a great machine - easy to start and ran great. Sold it earlier this year, and have a battery one in case I need to use it. Just fixed 2 of these machines in the past week, too. Husqvarna did a great job making it easy to access everything for repairs and maintenance. Even having to do cylinder gaskets and oil seals are a piece of cake on this machine!

I wish I would have discovered your channel before I bought my battery operated weed whacker and blower. Typically I would get like 3/4 years of life on my 2 stroke equipment. Tried cleaning the carburetor, but it would barely run and that diaphragm was probably it. It seemed fine. Figured if life expectancy was about 3/4 years, might be cheaper to buy batteries than a whole new machine. I always have had great luck fixing 4 cycle lawn equipment, but never with 2 stroke. Not going to lie: I hate battery. Forget to charge? Guess I am not weed whacking that day... My Ryobi takes hours to charge. Not a fast charger, which, fast charging isn't the best for batteries either.

Never used a Husky trimmer but their saws did fine. I used what you do/did for years because they were free and did the job. We were the only ones that saw them or if someone else did they were polite and laughed after they got home. Now we have the battery jobs and all is still fine on the home front. Almost all the 2-cycle stuff has a good home and everybody is happy. Always a tradeoff somewhere. Thanks, good fix and Blessings

Reminds me of the "Honda" trimmers from yrs ago. When I worked at NT&E, people would buy the Honda trimmer and then bring it back, saying it doesn't work right. The problem purchasing a trimmer is you don't know if it will be comfortable for you to use until after you buy and use it for a while. I feel guilty about returning a machine after I have used it a while. I have several trimmers and some are great if you are younger and stronger than I am now. Regardless what is comfortable today in 10-20 years it may not be comfortable. Even though one of mine is quite hard for me to use I would recommend it to someone else as long as they understood it is heavy. Thanks for the videos.

In answer to your question. Yes i did get a trimmer I do not like using. I got a 40 volt trimmer and I don't like it. The power isn't there, it's not balanced, and the battery only lasts 30 minutes before i have to recharge it is such a treat. A new battery costs the same as the entire trimmer too. Why did I get it? Cordless was all they had. There were no gas powered units available.

The way you fixed that trimmer. Would the efforts be the same for a 2 stroke or 4 stroke. I've got a Stanley 4 stroke ohv and after I've pushed the prime bulb a few times the motor starts but after say 20 seconds it stalls, the whole thing isn't that old and I can't find another carburettor that fits, gaskets too. What I found out on eBay is the ones for sale have the fuel pipes in the wrong direction, my snipper has fuel tank on the bottom too but the ones I found have the pipes as if the tank is on top, not sure if I should take my carburettor off to check everything as what you've done.
