This week we're taking a short detour from our normal turbocharged, fully custom, frame off builds to show you guys exactly what our process is to take a cool car or truck and make it cooler (literally). We're going to show you all the steps we take to take a classic car or truck that's already drivable, sitting on bags, and looking pretty, and turn it into something comfortable, and reliable. A ride that you look forward to driving every season of the year, no matter the weather.
To do that, we have this Chevy C10 Stepside truck rolling into the shop. This truck already has a cool patina paint job, it's sitting on bags, and the interior already has some cool upholstery. But all that doesn't matter if it's not enjoyable to drive. So we have a whole pile of upgrades that we're going to stuff into this step side. We're ditching that carburetor for a more headache-free Holley Sniper EFI unit, a slick looking Holley mid-mount accessory drive, and we got an upgraded radiator and fan combo to keep the engine cool! The engine isn't the only we're trying to keep cool. We also have a Restomod AC system going into this truck; giving this C10 a cool cab breeze where there previously was none. We also have a Dakota digital gauge cluster going into this truck to give the dash a much needed refresh!
Let us know what your favorite upgrade was, or if you think we missed any important parts to making this truck an even better all-weather Sunday cruiser!
.

That was a ton of work! Would be nice if the wire harness (as nice as they are) would come with a bulk head connector, would much easier than fishing wires through a hole then trying fit fit a grommet around it all. Nice job S2S!
@SalvagetoSavage
@SalvagetoSavage 11 ай бұрын
That would be an awesome idea (and probably net you a fortune!) Imagine having a bulkhead connector that you can mix and match different dash set ups and engine electronic set ups. Sounds really complicated and a lot of R&D but it would be a cool concept to wire up a car or truck with just a couple harness connector clicks!

I was wondering if anyone has made coil packs for these olscool 350???
@AlteredCarbons
@AlteredCarbons 11 ай бұрын
i've seen people do like old school blocks with vortec parts and coil pack setup's. its just do you want to spend money to do it. its like every generation tho is going to be different. so like right now ls1's can be pulled from any junkyard and used just like back in the day any 350 could be pulled from a truck and put into say a 80's camaro that came with a v6. its cheaper to buy the current gen blocks then it is to build up older gen stuff cause its getting harder to find old gen items unless you know that old man down the road a ways. personally for me i want to build a chevy 400 small block (NOT PONTIAC, THEY ARE VASTLY DIFFERENT) and my only options would be to use a after market block from say dart and im not even sure they make them any more *just googled and they do... but 2k-4k* so for 2 or 4k i could build a chevy 400 again like back in my day. but at the same time. its just cheaper and more economical to build a LS engine cause i can find the parts and they can be had running for that price. do some head work, cams, and a small turbo... and your going to have a stronger block then the 400. but i really like 400's i just would never build one any more. even tho i could bore the 400 from dart to something like 426 or 427 or something and they are power houses, with 5k i can build a junk yard motor that could push 700-1k hp which if everything else is stock i wouldn't want to do but it can be done i've seen it a bunch of times in my lil red neck area. and most of the parts they use are junk yard or ebay

i love all the work you guys do, it should inspire us all if we like cars to get as close to your level of fab work and detail work. that being said. i really dont like this truck and the only thing i dont like is the damn color... like that fake blue patina looks so garbage its not even funny. you can tell they spent some time to make the truck look straight and paint match... they should of just did a real paint job. also i know its not my car and this is what the owner wanted but this just screams ugly to me. i dont want to say its trashy as its far from trash, but i feel like its just a bad taste to look at... but again, love the fab work here guys. sorry for rant.
@SalvagetoSavage
@SalvagetoSavage 11 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for watching and all the kind words!! The paint should probably be a bit more weathered and distressed to give it more closer to a realistic patina finish. But like you said, this one isn't ours to enjoy. If the owner loves it and it gets him to break this baby out of the garage and keep it on the streets, then it's two thumbs up from us! You should check out some of the patina paint episodes we have and let us know if you like the look better when it's matched for a more traditional weathered look!
