Hey, it’s fantastic to see and hear your enthusiasm for the 3 door again, I have got two project cars on the go at the moment, but I’m ashamed to admit that the one that I have owned since 2006 and I have spent more blood sweat and lots of tears for it is my Nova Sport which is an Irmscher UK special Edition that was limited to only 500 sports being built in 1985; there is not that many left these days (approximately 30-35) but I have not given it any attention since 2019 and it’s still on axle stands as I had to replace the drive shaft oil seal about a week before attending the VBOA rally that July but it wasn’t too be and I have spent more time in and on my Astra VXR Nurburgring as it’s been my daily driver, But You Adam have given me the wake up call to get back to the nova again and doing the small or relatively quick jobs on it is the best way to get back into it again, thank you mate, take care fella 👍

For effective cleaning, try using an ultrasonic cleaner. They're really good at removing old muck but be careful because they're also good at removing paint if your not careful. Best additive to mix in the water i've found is lemon juice-what you put on your pancakes.

13:13 that tape from halfords is magic, when i worked there we used to use it to stick number plates on... used it on my own Mx5 and i can lift the whole bumper with just the plate !

Adam if the lift concerns you that much buy a couple of builders acros to support the lift arms just for safety, but really when that lifts in the air its not going anywhere

A good way to remove the old sticky tape residue and it will also melt the foam and make the glue so soft that you can just use a microfibre cloth with more Liquid Lighter Fluid on it and reduces the chances of damaging the paint work under it, I have been using “Swan” or “clipper” Zippo lighter fluid for years now to get the foam and glue off car bits and it’s also good at removing oil or grease from the interior fabric without damaging the material or foam under the fabric especially on the Older Recaro Seats that it’s impossible to find a replacement one or the material to get it re- trimmed again, it’s also a lot cheaper than panel wipe and it’s will also do a better job as well, but it’s always worth a try and have a can of it in the toolbox for any emergency’s 👍

Just something I noticed Adam, I know belts do fray no matter what but looks like the oil return pipe from the steering pump to the rack is touching the steering pump belt which would obviously make it fray again.

I have a 1995 toyota trueno gtz an my steering has gone heavy I've changed the fluid 2 times made alittle difference at first but it's come back again, noticed before the first change the fuid was really dirty possible worn seals on pump or rack, I may have to send my pump off for refurbishment, its a nightmare job on my 4agze no room keep putting it off 😢

You can buy an aerosol of adhesive removal called Chu-sol. My local paint shop sell it. I use for number plate tape. Toffee wheel is too abrasive.
