In today's video, I share my method of removing those nasty pin stripes from off-roading! My Tacoma took a little bit of a hit from Otay mountain truck trail, but luckily removing light scratches is a relatively easy fix.

Great video! I totally agree with the offroad trailer queen haha I used "Forever Black" plastic treatment on all the black plastic on my Tundra and RV. It's been 7 months in Seattle where we had several days of heat that peaked at 116F this summer and lots of uncharacteristically sunny days, plus it's been raining. The plastic looks new. On other vehicles I've tried both a heat gun and hair dryer, both of them with and without various oils and none of those attempts lasted very long (plus the heat melted the plastic a little).

Like you, I have scratches on my fender flares. Don't replace them. When they do get unsightly on my truck, I plan on spraying on some bed-liner material. I used the Duplicolor bedliner in the rattle can for my rock sliders that I ordered in raw steel. Prepping was a pain, but it came out great. My rock sliders already saved me, the bottom of the cab could've had a small dent from accidentally driving in a ditch at night on the ranch. The duplicolor bed-liner stayed on and no worries.

That's such a good idea! It would probably be preferable to taking them off anyways... we'll see how bad they'll end up getting. I'm looking to rip off my side n-fab steps and putting some sliders on. I just haven't decided on which to get yet

Hi Chloe. On the plastic piece you can use a product by Rust-0leum for automotive to paint the plastic. I've use it on my plastic components on my Camaro and my 97 Oldsmobile Bravada and it looks great. It brings back the shine and gloss to the bumpers and fenders. Just a suggestion.

My whole crew and me went into an unmaintained trail that had overgrown basically 60% of the trail... Till this day we can still see the scratches. Really glad I have white because it doesn't really show up as well as dark green, black and silver does haha. Every now and then friends will ask me to take them on a trail and I would suggest them that trail lol

Hey I might have a tip to remove the scratches off your fenders since it is just plastic. Try using a heat gun on em it should remove the scratches since it’ll melt the plastic back to its original shape. I did it in my 4Runner a few years back when we packed a bunch of snowboards in the back and it scratched up the interior plastic. I just went over the scratches with the heat gun a few times and the scratches literally just disappeared. But be careful not to stay in the same spot for too long with the heat gun or else it’ll melt the plastic too much.

If you are worried about scratches that much, you might want to consider getting PPF. That way you aren’t destroying your clear coat by polishing it repeatedly and temporarily filling the gaps with wax. It will keep your paint pristine and a lot of those PPFs can be heated up and they’ll expand and the scratch will “disappear” (be less visible). Over time, you can just replace the PPF while the paint under it is protected.

only can fix scratches so much till you run out of clear coat. need to wash it and clay bar the paint before buffing. if you dont clay it youre just scratching it up even more leaving a lot of swirl marks. you defiantly need a dual action polisher just go gwt one for $60 at harbor freight. and yes correction is like sandpaper in a way but you use compound for heavy stuff then polish to remove all the scratches the compound left and what the clay bar left or what you didnt clay. you should never start off using compound cause theres no reason to take off clear coat that didnt need to be. starting with a polishing finish first then go to a compound then back to a polish to clean up everything the compound left behind
